Default 383

I'm planning on building a 383 stroker for my 98 Trans Am. I've sifted through a few pages here but with a dialup connection, it takes forever. I'm trying to find a good 72cc chambered head for my future engine, like maybe some good ls6 heads or maybe some Dart heads like my friend has suggested. I'm open to any ideas and suggestions...

I am also planning a 383 stroker build.
I would go with ET 215 or 225, or AFR 225.

Look at Tony Mano set-up, he made awesome power with a few different combo with AFR 205 and AFR 225 heads.

I am planning to use ET 215

WCCH does a nice 215cc edelbrock cnc or the afr 225cc heads.

Another Awesome 382 set-up is Jason99T/A

He made 505hp with 475tq with a good set of PRC stage 2.5 5.3l heads (2.04/1.57 valves)

Well, the AFR's are out of my price range and the 5.3 heads won't work because they will bump the compression too much. I need 72cc heads.

Most builds have pistons with valve relief.
What are your piston's?
Is your build FI??

No forced induction, I'm just trying to keep my compression around stock.

With 4cc valve relief, .053 gasket and 3.905 bore, yeah 72 cc would be 10.19 SCR.
But why would you do such a thing?

The WCCH heads I was referring to is an ls1 application and is a 66cc chamber. That would only have compression around 10.7-1 which works good with pump gas. I run 11.2-1 on 91 octane and 29 degrees of timing with no knock. My friend is running these on his 383ci.

Intake runner volume = 212cc
Exhaust runner volume = 82cc
Combustion chamber volume = 66cc
Test bore = 4.030"
Intake port tested with radius flow plate
Exhaust tested with stub pipe

Look at the WCCH-ELS-1

Well, I'm not so much concerned as keep it stock as I am at keeping it under 11:1 for my daily driver. I've been looking at the Dart heads and found some Diamond pistons with -7.0cc that will keep me under 11. Now I'm just trying to figure out if I want the 205 or 225 heads. Any suggestions?

7 cc relief is way too much. 4/5 cc at most.

Why do you want compression under 11 ??

And what cam are you going to use? SCR wont mean anything untill you spec a cam for it. and Calulate DCR

If you're on a budget
you could run Mahle pistons at -4cc with a cnc Patriot or TSP 64cc head, .045 gasket
and a 235/240ish cam 112/110 (tsp)

running 11.5:1 at a 8.6 DCR

*just as an example*

I don't know my cam because I haven't even decided on heads for sure. I'm trying to keep my CR somewhat lower so I can run 91 or even 89 occasionally if I have to, I run into a lot of places where they don't have 91 or the pump for 91 is broke, which is a major pain sometimes. I just don't want to have to run into detonation down the road. Running over 11:1 just worries me I suppose, but I believe my father and I have narrowed down the heads we want to use, either Darts or Patriot LS6s. I know they both are within a couple hundred dollars of each other, which would end up having the better flow numbers?
