Default Big cam in Cam Only ls1

So is the biggest cam used on Cam only ls1's the T-ReX?And just out of curiostiy how fast and how much power has been made with that cam?
I have an 02 Trans Am th400 4500 stall full suspension 3000#s with driver cam only but I think my cam is a lil different than the T-Rex..
Any info is appreciated..Thanks

T-rex would be to big for LS1 heads...if you go t-rex, get some ported ls6 heads.

i do believe that the t-rex was designed for use with the stock heads...

and no, i think the ls1 would benefit from more duration on a tighter lsa-type cam vs. the t-rex, i guess we'll find out

The cam is actually designed for stock heads.

T-rex is designed to WORK with stock heads, but by adding heads to the setup, you will gain power just like any other cam. Main reason that people say that its designed to work with stock heads is that it still has PTV clearance without flycutting the pistons. That statement is very misleading.

From the results I've seen on here, the OEM heads do quite well with a wide variety of cams. Of course most aftermarket heads will do even better.

The TRex is the largest you can fit without flycutting. I believe a 250/254 on a 108 would require flycutting. If you went with the TRex you could get a "cheap" set of CNC LS6 heads from TSP and probably see close to 440 rwhp. It sounds like you already have your weight, suspension and stall prepared for a large cam, so I'd go for it!

i think it'll do great with the extra cubes and the extra flow the 6.0l heads have. if i were you though, i'd get the heads milled for more compression.

cant if you go with a max effort cam like the trex or the MS3, will be PTV issues.

You can always flycut the pistons. If you are having it installed I don't think they will charge you that much more to flycut (maybe 200 bucks). I may be wrong, but that's what I've heard from a few people.

but he has 6.0L heads. dont they have 72cc combustion chambers? he has plenty of room to bump it to at least 10.5:1.

larger chamber, deck is the same as any other head.
same valves, springs etc. you MIGHT be able to get by with a bit more because the lq4's have a dished piston somewhat.
