Default iron block question...

I'm in the process of planning out an iron block 402... afr heads, big cam, etc.etc. I will be reusing alot of parts of my stock motor... but I'm wonderign if any of the engine covers arediffernet from the 6.0 iron block from teh alum 5.7 block. Oil pump covers/timing covers, etc.etc that kind of stuff.

If they are, which ones are needed, part #'s would be great, so I can try to find some for sale in here, or at a junkyard, whatever.

Thanks.

Default iron block

It is my understanding that 1000% of all the LS1 and 6.0 liter ironblock components, covers, oil pump, etc., etc., are interchangeable, and i am sure someone soon here will confirm my opinion that you will BE GOOD TO GO!!!

you will have no problem with the parts they will all bolt on you will just need extended cam sensor wire and knock sensor wires

Not for an iron block... for an LS2 6.0 block you would.

ditto that. I used all the covers, gaskets, sensors, etc from my stock motor on my iron 408/AFR setup.

Thanks guys, that makes life easier, no need to be running around at junkyards looking for engine covers now.

What about the alternator bracket? I was planning on going to that bmr drag race only bracket as the power steering and heat/ac are going away, does that bracket work o.k.? I have read from a couple people that it does, but not exactly the way it should.....

i'm not sure about the BMR bracket, on the factory alternator bracket you have to leave out one bolt.

You will have no problems leaving the bolt out.
