It slips, but it's a 4k stall, it's supposed to slip. Once you give it enough throttle the thing takes off like a bat out of hell. Big cam and converter combination is not very good for gas milegae, but great for everything else.

You do not need big to make street killer combos, you need the right SCR/DCR motor combo.
BTW DD is a relative terms, some like a eye watering overlap monster and some like nervous high lift Stealth. It up to you and your taste.
To make it easy for you, if you are going cam only, the get a cam that makes a good 8.5 DCR with the stock compression, with that in mind the highest Duration that will achieve that. Then it is just a matter of choosing the lifts you are comfy with (LOBE choice). There is your good street cam. (no sticky tires, super high stall etc...)
Im curious how much notable low end you think Ill lose going from the TR224 to the TSP 228

To add to that question, let's throw in a 224/228 in there and compare that to the other two. Compare both low end and top end. I'm just curious what the extra 4 deg exhaust duration does over the 224/224. Then again going to a 228/228, what does the extra 4 deg of intake do?

i know i'm going to flamed, but my little TR220 does a great job as a DD cam.i also have 3.73 gears and a 3000 stall converter to help it out.decent gas mileage and power right off idle.floor the throttle at 30 mph and it lights up the tires.i could go bigger, but i like the drivability and near stock idle.ok guys, flame on!

I need LSA and advance to get a clearer picture of the VEs.

Mind you this is also relative to the rest of the combo. It is very possible that with the right heads, SCR, DCR the 228 will make more. But that is only true if both combos are optimised for their parameters.
The 228R is XE-R (49 variation ramp rate) while TR224 is (50 variation ramp rate), so the 228 XE-R will make more power.
The VE's will dictate where that power lays.

i have the Patriot 232/230 580/580 110LSA, and i love it... i actually want a little more Lope outta the cam, but the car idles at 900, which seems high to me. changes to my tune should make it lopier, and its power is nice. Its pretty lopey as it is tho... sounds mean as hell .... might want to stay smaller in duration if you want good mid-range... its not bad mid, but it definitely imporved the top end much more than low-mid

i went with the theory that the 228 cam should've been better than the 224. I went with the f10 114 and have seen countless 224's out perform mine. I stepped up to the f13 112 and am now thinking of getting rid of it...not enough low end. here are my numbers with each
f10 114-378/372
f13 112-394/366

Im still searching for that cam thats going to give me what i want and an off the market cam isnt going to do it i think.

MS3 is my perfect daily driver cam.

Most people might be better suited by a 233/239 or FM13 sized cam, but then again LS1tech members have been called the "lunatic fringe of LS1 owners" so maybe you would like an MS3 on a daily driver.

my TS 228R .588/588 is on a 114 and I dont recall what TSP normally grinds into the cam. Its off the shelf.

rest of the combo is

AFR milled -.20 off to 63CC stock GM gasket, ARP head studs. stock gears on MN6, LS6 Manifold, Vararam, plus all the bolt ons.

Current set up is TR224 .563/563 on a 114 and whatever TR grinds into their off the shelf cams, stock LS1 heads, stock gears on MN6, LS6 Manifold, Vararam, plus all the bolt ons.

I'm with you man. This is more than likely the cam i'm going with for my DD. Of course streetable is relavant to the owner, but with the right tune the G5X3 on a M6 car with the right tune is streetable. I know I guy who put 12k miles on his car with that cam and a set of untouched LS6 heads except for some 918's in one year.
