How much for "broken" block

How much for "broken" block I have a 99 block that came out of my TA that has a crack vertically down the cylinder from where the top of the piston let go under boost. Other than that, the block is perfect. Engine still ran, even with crack in cylinder. I am MAJORLY bummed, lookin to get rid of it, not sure what to ask, or if I should list it on ebay. Check out the picture, you can see the crack.

I have heard of people doing that, but I already have a new block... But now am leaning toward buying a shortblock that has already been deck plated, blueprinted, balanced. We don't have machine shops here with access to even a deck plate for an LS1. Better safe than sorry. Was really thinking of going with a 382 for the new engine since it is going to be a higher boost rear-mount.

That's great, hadn't thought of scrapping it for change. Not sure how much the block weighs to the pound, but that isn't a half bad idea... I'll try to sell it to someone who will sleeve it and put it to good use, the other cylinders are flawless.

So basically thats not a block crack is a crack in the sleeve. The actual block wasn't damaged at all right?

LOL 408 never hurt anyone! I was looking at a 382-383 setup for the new boosted motor. I'm so scared now of it coming apart, it's all in the tune I know, but I want to run big time boost, and with it being a rear mount, wanted that extra displacement to spool it, and more torque to get the car going when I swap to taller gears and tires. I have another block with a broken mounting ear, trying to get a refund, but the seller has drawn this out months and months, and i'm about to scrap this block that I bought to replace the one grenaded. I am just so frustrated with this whole project right now!!! I just want to buy a 383 forged setup with H-beams and dished pistons, slap my ported #317 heads on, and call it done.

When I replaced my 99 damaged piston block, I kept it. Have a feeling it wil be reborn in the future. Check around; you may find an engine shop or seller that will discount a 383... in exchange for the broken ear &/or damaged piston block. I know that Lingenfelter charges $800 for the core block alone. So, the damaged block has value.
