this is the fourth crank sensor!!!!!!!!!
any1 ever have this problem?
any1 know what possibly causes it to go bad?
i am on the fourth 1 for my car and it only has 30k on it.
the latest was frikn hours old.
i installed it, went for a test drive, then later went for a cruz. no real hard driven. then mid way through it bit the dust.
car bogged, backfired, then stalled out, and ses came on. then repeded same all the way home.
if it is a mod i have on my car dear god i will take it off. please help me

do you have headers? there is a loom of wires going down the passenger fenderwell to the starter. that wire looms houses the some of the starter wires, passenger rear o2 wires and crank sensor wires. i thought i had a bad cat on the wife's car because i was getting a P0430. then it started running weird. backfiring, stalling, so forth. went to replace the crank sensor after i finally got the crank sensor code. that's when i found the wires melted to the headers. i lengthened the wires and rerouted them away from the header.
I think mrr23 has a good point. If the sensor is not physically damaged, the wiring and connector would be suspect. You can test the wiring for continuity. Also, your vehicle pinout can show you the destination of these wires. A hall effect sensor should have a 12 volt source, ground, and signal wire to the PCM. Let us know what turns up.
well i have been playn with it for the day.
from looks the wires dont apear to be damaged.
ther r touching the header in a spot but the loom is wraped in that shiny heat tinfoil stuff.
i swaped sensors. back to the first 1, the car ran for like 2 min then died.
i am sending it to east side to have them rip the pass side header off and get a good look at whats up.
maybe leanthen the wires maybe some header wrap.
hopefully it will fix the problem.

Just had that same problem pulled the motor out and found that the crank was walking. Looked like something was pushing on the on the back of the crank. The thrust bearing and the crank got ate up. Hope you had better luck than I did.
