CNC/Hand ported AFRs
I was wondering if any sponsor (or anyone else for that matter) offers a CNC or hand ported version of AFR heads (205 or 225). If not, has anyone had them custom hand ported by a good porter? What were the results? Does AFR have any plans on offering a CNC version in the future?

AFR heads are 5 axis CNC'd from the factory already. That's why they make so much power. That's not to say a competent porter can't extract more power with a larger runner, just few choose to.

Yep, the 205 and 225 ports are CNC programs, not cast. TEA used to have a CNC port of their own that they could run through a bare casting AFR, but I'm not sure if they offer it anymore. Some companies, as stated above, do some touch up work, but the heads are pretty damn good to start with. They don't leave a whole lot of room to improve.

Cool guys, nice to know. I was unaware that the AFR heads were CNC'd already. I am trying to decide on a set of heads for a TRex cam and a future 408 build and am liking the torque numbers put out by the 205s. Would the 205s be to small for both of those applications or would they work fairly well? I'm aware of the PV issues but I have seen more consistent numbers with AFR 205s than the ETP 215s.

AFR 225's right out of the box....make sure you have at least 11.25-11.5 CR with that cam and you will make good torque and big power. The 225's are better suited to that displacement unless you really wanted to focus on improving the low speed and middle part of your power band at the expense of 10-15 HP upstairs. Part throttle and off-idle response would be incredible with the 205's but it would cost you some peak #'s....The 225's would still perform well down low (not quite as crisp as the 05's), but pull stronger from 4K all the way to redline. For a dual purpose car with 400+ CID I would think the 225's would make the most sense. I am currently helping a customer that doesn't really race his vehicle and wants boat loads of low speed and part throttle grunt out of his 402 and in his case the 205's were the logical choice with a very small camshaft (220's @ .050)....I bet that combo makes ridiculous TQ even as low as 3000 RPM's which is exactly what this particular customer was looking for.

I will be running a 4000 stall when the time comes for the 408 so power down low really doesn't matter all that much to me. The 225s look like they fit the bill. I know this next question might cause a pretty heated debate, but I'll ask anyways.
How do the ETP 215 heads compare performance wise to the AFR 225s? I have seen impressive flow numbers from the ETP 215s but haven't really seen a lot of track times with them.

How much can the ETP 225s be milled before PV clearance becomes an issue with the Trex in a 346? I'm not concerned about PV clearance in the 408 because I will run pistons with valve reliefs, however, the heads I choose will most likely be in the 346 for a year or so.

YUP! but companies like Cartek and MTI continuously make great power and track results with there hand ported 243 castings yet all you will ever hear on this sight is about AFR and ET. That's why I said to do SOMEMORE research.

CNC/Hand ported AFRs
I have one of the first sets of AFR heads that were CNC ported by TEA. The flow numbers were good but I had a local NASCAR engine builder report the head which really woke them up. I have been very pleased with the results as my daily driven 2000 C5 346 N/A runs 10.6 @ 126.

I was under the impression etp heads were made to spec.For instance you wouldn't have to mill them,just specify your desired cc and you wouldn't lose any p to v clearance from 57cc to 67cc look into SlickVert's setup https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...&highlight=etp
