Default Trick Flow heads in the 10s!

I went to the track (Montgomery Motorsports Park) last night (Friday 7/7/06) and ran the following with the new TEA Trick Flow heads. I am running my same ole 230/230 baby cam.
I can not say enough about the quality and performance of the Trick Flow heads. It has been a pleasure dealing with Brian and Mike at TEA.

With the addition of the Trick Flow heads and FAST intake I improved my ET by over .4 in the ¼ mile and by almost .2 in the 1/8 mile.

Driving around town neither you nor the driver next to you would never think you are driving a 10 second car. Startup (cold and hot), idle, throttle response, and overall drivability are excellent even in the 90-100 degree temps we have had in Montgomery lately.

Setup details are in the signature. All runs are made with the car setup just as I drive it with the exception of the skinnies and ET Street Drag Radials mounted on Centerline Convo Pro wheels. Race weight was about 3420.

My goal was to run 10s on the motor in the summer heat. I need to set a new goal!
I feel sure the car will go 10.75 or better in negative DA weather conditions.

DA = 1915
60'------1.51
1/8------6.97
MPH----97.93
1/4------10.98
MPH----122.26

DA = 1764
60'------1.51
1/8------6.96
MPH----98.01
1/4------10.97
MPH----122.11

Very impressive ET and mph. The heads have really brought up your power. 122 mph with a 3420 race weight is BIG power, especially at that DA. When cool weather roll around, you'll be DEEP in the 10s. Congrats on the new gains!

Nice one. Congrats
What is you setup making power wise?
I'm hoping to be in the 10's NA myself in Sept.

BTW, is there a gadget available that can measure DA (something affordable)

Congrats on your great results, John. Do your Trickflow heads have the out- of- the- box finish, i.e., 64cc chambers, and stock TEA cnc? Just asking, 'cause the UPS guy delivers mine next Weds., and mine were milled to 61cc.

Thanks guys.

Predator-Z – To measure DA I go to www.weatherunderground and get the conditions at the time of my run and then go to http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_da.htm and plug in the numbers.
You can buy a device such as http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku that will do it for you at the track.

I do not know how much RWHP the setup is putting down. I do know that with my old setup I would run even with a buddy of mine that had almost the exact setup and put down ~425 RWHP through a locked 4L60E.
With the above as a ruler I would guess that the current setup is putting down some where between 425 and 450 RWHP with the converter locked

Louis – I have not heard or seen you post in a long time. How are you? Also thanks for a great cam!

Hennytime – You are right. I should have said “a baby cam by today’s standards”

exSSer – My heads are out of the box Trick Flow heads milled to 61cc chambers. You are going to love the heads!

Thanks Bruce and JZ.

I am running a 4L60E transmission and 3.73 gears in the stock rear.

Density altitude... basically the elevation of the track, based on weather conditions

I am looking at heads. What vendor do you get them from? What springs/values do they run?
Great numbers.
