Max safe RPMs
Max safe RPMs I'm running Patriot 5.3l stage 2 heads and have been told that my car is shifting too soon. Right now, it shifts at 5900 or so and my rev limiter is set at 6300. Am I leaving a lot on the table or is this OK?
Until I can get a new program, I'll just manually shift and hold the gears a little longer. I was running 12.2s last weekend in drive, so I'll see what difference it makes tonight.
This will not work if your rev limit is set for 6,300. I would recommend setting the rev limit for 6700-6800, and set the shift points to occur at ~6500 as Predator stated. That should be a sweet spot for your cam. Your '02 short block is fine within this RPM range, just make sure you don't lose oil pressure.
