Default LPE GT2-4,- what springs?

I have a GT2-4 on it's way from LPE. They told me that my stock LS6 springs would work fine with this cam. I know that they know much more than I do, but isn't .566 lift pushing the limits? My springs have all been checked and are still holding their new specs.

I think if you switch cams, then you should change the springs, just because the springs are a wear item. You might be able to get by with the stock springs, but the chances that you won't are higher than normal. Breaking a valve spring is potentially really expensive.

I know that it's not on their site. I bought it directly from LPE. The specs are .566 lift 114, 4 advanced. Part of the reasoning for not needing to go to heavier springs is because I have the Z06 lightweight sodium filled valves. I'm a bit more concerned about getting too close to coil bind.

If you have the Z06 valves, listen to LPE's recommendation. The Z06 springs will work, I know someone running a similar setup with more duration with the Z06 springs, no problem at all.

I do have the lightweight Z06 valves. Thanks for the information.

It is not only a matter of lifts, you have to look at the seat pressure of the cam. LPE lobes are lazy by todays maket. LS6 will work.
However, if you have a few miles on them, I would toss in a new bunch.

The springs all measure 94+ lbs at 1.80" (That is what they are supposed to be new.) Not to be too much of a dumbass, but how often do you recommend they be changed? The car is not raced and rarely sees redline. I don't think that GM asks for them to ever be changed- even on the Z06.

I just got my GT2-3 off the UPS truck today....I spoke with them last week and they tell me that my LS6 springs will work great...(They even sell a kit that includes the GT2-3 and the LS6 springs) This cam has .571/.578 lift...

To be honest, I just bought a set of Z06 springs to rebuild my stock LS1 heads for something to do this winter. They were $50. I think for the price, I would replace them with the cam installation if it were me.

I agree on changing them. Quit being cheap. Cheap could cost you in the long run. Do you want to have to find out the hard way?
