cam swap= no more power? NEW INFO PLEASE LOOK
I recently did a cam swap in my 01 t/a. I just went with the hot cam the install went well, little trouble idling in gear but sounds good. Anyway it seems to be slower now, or not any faster that it did before the cam. could it be that I just need to have it tunned? I am planning to have it dynotunned within 3 weeks or so. could i have missed something?
Think I found the problem
I took my car to the shop and had them put it on the scaner, It said no codes, but when he started it and put it on the part where you can watch to see if it is missfireing Oh my god! then he held the car at 1500rpm and two cylender where still missfiring hella bad, not everytime but a hella lot. he said replace the plugs and wires that maybe we messed one up?
what do you think?
and do I have to put those metal cover back on the new wire?(crane cam wires any good?)

I know about the stall, got a great deal on the cam, I mean a great deal. I called the guy thats going to do the dyno tune it and he said after talking to me that it sounds like a spark plug wire or 2 is off. I will check it when I get home.

does it idle like the engine is about to fly out of the hood? ever time i've accidentally left a spark plug cap off the engine shook so bad i thought my car was about to drop the engine in the floor...

hella like that and the gas milage sucks, the guy asked me if I was sure all the spark plugs clicked into place I was like oh ****. I sure hope thats the problem if not I guess I spend 7 hours for a car that lopes and isn't any faster.

I swapped on my vette a few months back... a friend helping me accidently broke a sparkplug wire during the install.. Had no idea... I lost some power and the car struggled up to 4500rpms.
I learned the hard way by following the below advice the first..
My tuner assumed it wasn't timed correctly. aka the dots aren't 100% lined up.. you can usually be a little off but more than a tooth and it's a bad situation. Check all your wires maybe even replace them.... you can get some autolites (professional grade) at advance for $30 (dont' listen to those who cry for ac delco or more expensive ones) these wires test out just fine for a fraction the cost of delcos.
if you still have problems the next question would be is the cam installed correctly???
so get started on pulling the HB and timing cover to check it out.... after that i'm outta ideas.

Your SES light would have come one for a misfiring cylinder if it was a plug problem. The Hot Cam is relativly mild compared to some of the other oferings out there now. There should be a noticible difference up top, but you will have to take it to a dyno to know for sure.
Get a tune, as I am sure the computer is trying to re-learn the fuel curves now.

I say the spark plug wire is not fully on the spark plug. After I swapped the headers onto my car, it ran like a piece of **** and could barely reach 3000 RPMs. I went back and found out that 2 of my plug wires were half-way attached. I pushed them a little harder and my car ran like a champ (very loud, might I add with open headers).

honestly i say plugs/wires.... its a cheap and relatively easy fix, and its likely to fix your problem. I am running a MUCH bigger cam than you, TSP Torquer2, and i dont get a random misfire code....so i wouldnt automatically jump to the conclusion that the computer is detecting the cam.... Change at least the wires and let us know how it goes
