Use one of those sanders that vibrate, after you take all the big **** off with a razor blade.
You might get lucky like I did, my head gaskets looked like they just came out of the package in one piece. They looked like two new ones all in one nice piece.

that's what i did. i actually used the rougher burgundy colored ones but the green will work great also. on a side note i tried to use a vibrating sander to polish my valve covers and wound up just using sand paper and alot of elbow grease since the valve covers are so rough but i didn't try it on the heads.
Wire wheel on a cordless drill did the trick on my valves. Also taking some degreaser and simple green worked for getting the heads to look new again.
