Anyone here know which heads/cam package has the best power curve for 1/4 mile racing (6 speed -- may add nitrous!)???
Thanks for the help! <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Very true, it also depends on how much you are willing to spend as well as driveability.

Watch out guys, this is a setup. <img src="images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
Be carefull, no flames on or advertisements for shops. <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">
There is no one generic 'best' set-up for everyone. Each car and combination is different. Not to mention the package has to be tuned to suit the owner's wants, needs, desires, and expectations.
However if you talk to some of the more well known and reputable shops, they will steer you onto the right combo for your needs. I'm sure Tony and PSJ have opinions on this and can help you out.

I agree with 2quick4u.. I am looking for more of a roadracing setup than a 1/4th setup.. My car still does well in the 1/4th, but I run down cars that run 11.5 and 11.6 in the 1/4th and I run a 12.2. Of course this happens on our secret tracks in my area. This goes to show what you do at the track do not always reflect what you would do on the street..

If your planning on adding N20 then you may want a different profile CAM.
If you do that then, you won't be as fast N/A as you should but should be faster with the juice then a N/A cam. Understand? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

Well I'm going with a Lunati cam 93-LS1-6 221/224 .558 .560 @ 114
http://www.thunderracing.com/ls1inteng.htm#CAM
Info: 1700-6600 RPM Power Band. This camshaft works well with power-adders such as nitrous oxide (NOS), due to the more aggressive exhaust lobe. Excellent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning on automatic transmission cars. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended.
I will not have it in for a few months. Just a note My car will be on the track and Nitrous more than used on the road. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />

For a track car, that cam would be great! If it is going to do a lot of street duty, I am a big fan of building an efficient motor up front and then adding nitrous to it. Even still, that cam does not look to bad. I have seen cams with 16* duration splits! Only good for a very healthy dose of drugs on a trailer car.
Good Luck,

Re: best H/C package for 1/4 mile?
weel unless you plan on running the motor up past 7000 I wouldnt advise 2.08 intake valves. Though 2.02~2.05's seem to work well for the quicker street racers.
Dont go for a head with great flow but that happens up above .600 lift. Go with a proven combo that many folks have used and that have been both dependable and powerful.
Look at what some of the quicker fellas are using. Decide if there car is set up and is being used like you plan on using yours.
Then just follow the "yellow brick road". <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
Don't be a guinnea pig for some shop...know what you want BEFORE you drop a load of cash on a, "I hope it RUNS" project.
Good luck in your quest for HP/Perf.

Oh heck no! Chris, no shot taken. I am sorry you may have interpreted it that way.
I was just warning the fella to look more for a proven combo, one that put out the numbers in the lift range where he may be looking. Thats all. Any allusions to you or your business were not intentional.
I KNOW your heads work and work well.
But it does irk me that when I am shopping for heads for my 69 SS/RS that all the head companies show flow at .650 and all my old camaro's cam lift is around .490 or so. It makes it hard to get a true comparison.
You take care and I wish you well Chris.
