Default LS1TECH testing of some new parts, good idea?

I'd kind to like to see someone impartial dyno the new Holley/Weiand intake manifold when it comes out.

I'd like to see someone dyno a car with an LS6 intake under a controlled environment. Even measure the temperature of the coolant to make it fair.

Then swap on a Holley/Weiand intake and dyno that... And dyno it like 3 times to see if the intake will heatsoak a lot.

I'd also really like to see someone port one too, and also port out a TB out to like 85mm and the inlet of the intake too... Could be interesting... Thoughts?

Who better to test products than the members of LS1TECH. We should contact the company's making the "new" parts, and see if they would sponsor the parts for true testing of it, dyno testing and track testing. The person receiving the "new" part should be responsible for the install, and a short write-up on their feelings/experiences about it. A install documentary with pictures would be an idea also, and it should be supplied to the company sponsoring the testing to include with their product as Installation Instructions. Anyone have any contacts?

Since my new ARE 422 is shipping next week I volunteer to test a LS1, LS6, and Holley intake on it.

I bet upwards of at least $50K go into designing an intake manifold anyways, I think $20K was the last I heard on getting the CARB approval on a product. It wouldn't hurt one bit from a $ standpoint for one prototype intake to get tested on a car so that we can see what it really does.

Jeremy all that weight of the aluminum intake would drastically affect the C5's handling, and you can't have that can you.....Are you getting the cast iron block or the resleeved aluminum block anyways?

I like the idea of testing, I am available very impartial too.

Have just completed install of double row timing chain when did another cam swap, real pain to fit but made setting up new cam sweet.

/me wakes up

"Intake manifold?? Where?"

-I get free dyno runs. Have about 200 logged now
-I have a very consistent running car
-Access to one of the best tracks in the US

Tell Holley to send me a free "test" unit, I'll give ya results.

Well, if anything needs testing on an internally-stock engine, I'm your guy! Everyone knows that "bolt-ons" aren't really mods...
