Default My idle has been acting up lately...

Over the past month I have noticed that my idle has been gettin choppier and choppier when i first start the car up in the morning. From the time i start it up, the choppy idle usually lasts for about 1 minute and then goes away.

Take this for example: I start the car up(obvioiusly its in park), then go to throw it in reverse and the idle shoots up bout 400 rpms (to bout 1400) and then slowly makes its way back down.

Another Example: I can usually start the car up with the AC on. However not today. This morning I started the car up in the garage and the idle shot up to bout 1600 then plummited and died.

What do u think this could be guys? I have autotap. Bad battery? IAC counts? Spark Plugs??
TIA

I would suspect a vacuum leak, which would cause the symptoms that you are speaking of.

HI there,
120-130??? I doubt you would have a vacuum leak with those counts. A vacuum leak is basically air that is entering the engine, without being measured by the MAF or the PCM.
With 120-130, I would suspect a bad IAC possibly, or checking a PCM for correct reading at the MAP during this occurance.
Just some thoughts, c4c5

Did you do any idle adjustments or TB changes after you put the cam in?

Im not exactly sure because I had a shop install/dial in my cam swap. I think its just that the IAC counts are too high. How in the world do I bring those counts down? (someone mentioned to me that there was an idler screw that i could adjust)

HI,
Your IAC counts are directly related to how much air the PCM is commanding into the engine, this is a computer commanded idle, not a screw in this case.
I would suggest that you have the people who did your install, reevaluate the situation.
