Default Got the heads and cam dynoed today...

Took the car up to FAStech this afternoon with the new GTP heads and 223/223 cam.

Pull # / RWHP / RWTQ
1 / 408 / 402
2 / 411 / 403
3 / 412 / 409
4 / 414 / 409
5 / 418 / 411 <--

411 rwtq is the most I have heard for a heads cam M6 car! The tq peaked at 4800 rpms and the hp peaked at 5700, low for a 223/223 112 cam. I was only advancing ~20 degrees of timing, 02s are showing a tad rich at .920s, but you really cant trust that. Hopefully I can get it peaking higher via LS1 edit. Let me know what you guys think.

Looking good! I think it's also worth pointing out again that the HP peak was at 5700rpm! 418rwhp at 5700rpm in itself is pretty good! I agree though, you should be pulling a few more rpm than that - just gives you something to do with your free time And yeah, 20 degrees of timing definitely isn't optimal!

Those are great numbers!! I definitely have to get dynoed again soon. I've had at least 50 people ask me what I'm putting down at the rear wheels, and I tell them "around 400". Stock I ran 316rwhp/327rwtq, so I hope I'm right. Sure feels like at least 400

Just curious but what did you gain from the heads/cam combo?

I thought you were close to 400rwhp with the mods you had before did heads/cam.

Regardless, those are some excellent numbers!

very nice balance of hp/tq. If your timing numbers are accurate, there is a lot more hp in this setup. I've seen my car dyno 20/18 higher with 0 vs 3.9 KR

Thanks for the compliments guys! The cam was installed dot to dot, and I really doubt it was a misgrind, so Im hoping there is another 20 rwhp in the combo. Ive got some more tricks to try like teflon tape on the rocker arm bolt threads to prevent oil from leaking into the intake ports of the heads, setting the fans to come on a tad later, timing tricker, adjusting the translator etc...

TA_2001: Make sure your numbers are SAE and not STD. FAStech's dyno operator accidentally had it turned on to STD and one of my pulls was 427/420!

Even though my car is far from optimal tuning for the new heads&cam, I have still gained 20 rwhp and 33 rwtq. I expect a decent gain in power once I get my fuel and timing figured out. Right now I am shooting for 430+/415

I believe if the seals on them are good they should be ok right? I think I'll just get 8 new bolts and install them or do we need to seal them better?

One of my friends with an MTI stage 2 package put teflon tapes on his threads and reported that his car smoked less, gained 2* of timing and ~8 rwhp.

Thanks Vince! What heads did you decide to go with? You upgrading to a HoS cam?

I am going to leave the vendor unnamed.. I am going to keep the T1 cam.. I do not drag race enough to warrant changes as of yet to the cam.. I am still undecided on the rear gears. I think I am going to go with the 3.73's..
