New dyno numbers after ASP pulley

I just added the ASP pulley, Katech solid tensioner and a MAFT. My A/F ratio was good so the MAFT is set to base..
Old: 325rwhp & 338rwtq
New: 334rwhp & 340rwtq
So it looks like a 9hp gain from the pulley.. might of been a little more but i had a little bit of pinging in the upper RPM's.. maybe i should set the MAFT 2% rich..
Pulley = good mod <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" />

And it's the little stuff like that that add up and really come together in the end...
9hp from a pulley change is awesome! Did you do the crank/alternator both, or just the crank pulley?

I don't believe you got 9 from a pulley, sorry. There must be other variables or something. Pulleys rarely show 1 or 2 on a dyno.

Crank only... You dont have to believe it.. I was 325 before and now im 334.. i guess the HP fairy could have left me some of it <img src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

I've heard of more people gaining 6-9 than 1-2. I'm looking to do the ASP crank next and 9 hp looks damn good to me (although not expecting it) . That along with some miles and I'll be close to where I want to be. Thanks for the update Steve.

I have personally watched someone install a pulley on the dyno and make 11 more rwhp. I was there, and winessed it in person. This is perfectly believable.
Nice numbers Steve!

Steve2000SS...Why did you install a new tensioner? Did you need this for the pulley?
BTW, nice gains <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

I was one of the first LS1 owners to install an ASP crank pulley. About 3 years ago! Picked up 8 rwhp on the dynojet, and dyno tested the install before/after on the same day.
The pulley is worth a solid tenth at the track, even if your dyno runs might not show it sometimes. Raughammer showed like 1 rwhp on the dyno but still picked up a tenth at the track with this mod.

Thanks for the reply everyone.. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> ~~ My stock spring tensioner had some play in it (wobble) so I went with the Katech unit.. not only does it look pretty trick but it is VERY well made.. You dont need it for the pulley but since I had the belt off I added it at the same time.

When I first started racing my old '98 Z28, Nineball talked me into getting the ASP pulley and a cutout. Ran a 13.54 without them and 2 weeks later with similar weather and 60' times and no other mods ran a 13.16.

It was a good pick up across the whole curve.. not 9hp over the entire curve but more than 5 <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
Yes, revs much quicker.. The nice part is that im making over 300rwtq starting at 2200rpms <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">
The hp is almost a straight 45 degree line up until I peak at around 5500rpm.. A/F ratio was right below 13 from 4000rpm on and 12.5 ish before that..

This is impressive. If someone would entertain a few dumb-ASP questions from the uninformed. <img src="images/icons/blush.gif" border="0">
What does ASP mean, is it an acronym?
This pulley simply replaces the stock unit located on the end of the crank along with a shorter belt, correct?
How does this thing actually work? Does it lessen the rotating mass of the stock unit?
Since this gives such a gain why would GM not do this already?
What are the ill effects on a dialy driver?
Anything else you could teach the dumb-ASP on this subject? <img src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

I agree 100% with you nineball the dyno graphs dont lie!!!!
