Let me bring you up to date with whats been going on in my life so you can understand why I am in this position. (non-runing Z)
July getting ready to move in to my new house.
September moving into the new house and in late Sep., I went to race at Super Chevy. The motor did not run good (11.4's)
.,..I was getting this mysterious knock retard problem. I just could not track it down, no matter how hard I tried with the MAFT. So toward the beginning of Oct. I took it to MTI on a dyno test and tune day...pulled it on there to try and find the "knock problem". Well on about the 6th run. The motor had a serious knock emanating from the bottom end. What I thought was spark or a lean knock turned out to be a failing bearing.
Well since the motor was injured on the dyno back in the begining of Oct. and I had to start a 5 week sojurn of 7 days a week, 12 hour shifts from 6pm to 6am. There were just no days off, to tear down the pepper. Plus we still had to get all moved in the house. AND sell the old house. Not an easy task I assure you. Finally in early December I was finished with my sabatical five weeks of hell at work with no days off. And tore down the pepper and dropped the motor off at MTI about a week ago. I have some plans for the car/motor. Mostly just lightening it and assembling the motor with some racer tricks. Just stock components. No stroker or boring going on. Just a stock rebuild with attention to detail.
After the HUGE expenses of paying two house notes, (still havent sold my old house), buying a new Avalanche, moving and the requisite fees, etc. Money is kind of tight. So no major mods for me. I would like to get a lighter K member and A frame set up.

Did I back up the 10.8 week end? I ran a string of sub 10.90's the following week. (much owrse weather but better tuning)
I am hoping for 10.6's this winter/spring. I think it is attainable.
4L60E, little 222/222 hydraulic cam, stock rear end.. yea, that's the ticket.

Sorry for the verbose reply.. but lots of folks have been asking me similar questions... and I thought I would put it all on the table so to speak.

I still find it hard to beleive after all these other folks that have run similar times as mine.. that some folks are so ignorant that they beleive the use of nitrous would be needed to to attain these E.T's. (10's)

Well, thats my progress. I have been working LOTs of hours, moving into my new house, bought a new truck, and in general trying to think of some more "squirrel mods" to get the pepper just a little bit faster. 10.6's seem a long way off when your motor and tranny are out of the car. Hey, thanks for asking about me. You take care.

Good luck with everything, John. FYI, Nick at ARE is running a GP on the K-member and A-arms. Not sure how long it's good for.

good luck John. i hope everything works out for ya. i did what you are doing to my bike motor, just using stock parts, but doing all the blueprinting and balancing necessary to make sure it's perfect. worked wonders on the bike. again, good luck!!

sorry to hear of all your trouble. I didnt mean to sound like i was doubting your ability to back up the 10.8's. I hope to run near the same. I also just had a spun bearing and rebuilt with stock bottom end(also with attention to details). I was really hoping yopu had some new "tricks" in the works to help me out.

good luck!!

What would cause this to happen? Anything in particular or does it just happen like when an alternator or water pump goes out?

Good luck on getting the pepper running again.

LOL, BIG PLANS there... soon the floor will be black and white checker board. ( I think that will look kick ***) The walls will soon be insulated and I have an AC man already lined up to install A/C in the garage. (shop)
Next year? A lift is going in on the right hand side toward the back.

Up top? a work out area, pool table, and machine shop is already in the works.

Expensive? yes, but man it will be a heck of a place to work on cars.

Dang I like new houses!
And yesterday? I SOLD THE OLD HOUSE!! ka-CHING!

Man is that a HUGE load off the shoulders.

Terry, i ran 11.5's with that stall and the 3.42's. It is pretty loose on the street. But like anything... you get used to it.

I upgraded to the weaker 3.73's for the heads/cam mod. I cross the traps at 6400... so it was a good choice.

10 bolts are light and strong.. well unless you have wheel hop or an M6!

I am sorry, I guess I dont understand your question. The bearing that died on me was a attached to the crank. Not an altenator or water pump bearing. Cause? If I understand your question.. in my mind was the factory clearances were to tight. And me revving to so high caused and thermal expansion that allowed the two moving surfaces to touch... killing the bottom end. Just a theory... but it is my guess. Sucks. So far the motor is the only thing I have broken on the car... so far. SUCKS to be down in this kick *** racing weather. SUCKS. *sigh*

I also picked up a LS6 intake today for $300, wahooo .

I want to meet you and thank you for your time when I goto Houston, not to mention see and maybe ride in your car if its ok with you!
