Default how do you use ice???

Or dont you guys?? Im going to the track tomorrow. the forecast is 81*F in South Florida. (not a summer 95*F) Should i put ice on the manifold like they do in GMHTP or shouldnt I? Because how do you do it without condensation from the bad dripping onto your manifold and injectors and electrical stuff? I put a bag to experimanet in a towel and the cold didnt penetrate the towel at all. So how do you prevent dripage??

Well, the water and condensation from the ice bag won't hurt the motor. But, icing the LS1 intakes doesn't really do anything. The composite material doesn't "heat soak", therefor there really isn't a need for icing. This trick is more widley used for the LT1 aluminum intakes because they love to hold in heat.

Some guy's still do it on their LS1's, I personally saw no gain icing down the intake between runs.

GMHTP doesn't know what they are doing if they are icing down the LS1 intake manifold, as it doesn't get hot even in back to back runs down the track. I also question their testing methods when they let their LS1 test cars cool right down between runs, because everyone on here knows that the LS1 f-body runs it's best times when run back to back, not when cooled down. I found my LS1 slowed down by about a tenth when it had cooled right down.

Would icing down the throttle body help at all? Its of metallic composition and does hold alot of heat.

Well, it couldn't hurt but don't expect to be able to tell a difference. The just air doesn't contact the TB long enough for much cooling to take place even if you had the TB freezing cold, IMO. Maybe someone should dyno test this? Actually put a TB in a deep frezzer overnight.

If you ran a coolant bypass the throttle body won't get that hot anyway. Other than the engine bay heat, which probably isn't enough to hinder performance. Like Patman said LS1's run their best hot I beleive, unlike a conventional motor that likes it somewhat cool! Put your throttle body in a deep freezer at your own risk. Reaching in to grab it, it may get stuck to your hand!!!

Best thing to do is to actually run the heat in the staging lanes...it will cool the engine down...when the engine is slighty cooler it will run a little bit stronger...
