Default Guys with SLP LTs...

I always said that I’d never go with LTs, but hey, times change

I’m torn between MACs and LTs, and the only reason why I wanted MACs is because I thought they would fit better. I have a friend with SLP LTs and he’s running them in off road form, and he has SLP 3pt SFC. The Y-pipe is very close to the SFCs and he does get some banging from somewhere under hard accel, not sure if it’s the SFCs or not though. Now, I have the same SLP SFCs, but I want to run the RT cats that come with the headers. By the way it looks I don’t see how there would be room to fit the cats in with the SLP SFCs, but I’ve heard that some have it this way. So my question to all you SLP LT guys is how’s the fit? I know the quality is great, and I’m not going to lower the car so ground clearance should be ok, I’m just worried about any banging/fitment issues. What are your experiences, and what tends to bang/need to be modified?

I have a bit of bangin when I shift over 5000rpm.
I belive that its right under drivers floorboard.
I can fix that but have not done it yet. I dont
shift often hard at that speed. I used the RT
cats and they work great. The pan behind the
transmission has 4 bolts in it.. I fabricated
a mount using 1" pipe for stand offs then bolted
it back on.

I have them with the Kenny Brown subs. I do have some type of banging with a hard shift, but I figured it was wheel hop. Other than that, the fit and all is perfect.

Yeah Jake, I heard about those. I’d want to see a few in action with plenty of run time on some LS1s before I’d consider them. I never like being one of the first to test something.

So anyone else with SLP LTs (especially if you have SLP bolt-on SFCs) care to share their experiences? Thanks

have the SLP LT and BMR SFC, the ypipe bang around on the driver side, had to add 1cm washers on tranny crossmember bolts to drop them down a bit, had to take off the crossmember at the collector, they were rubbing against eachother

I have SLP LTs, High Flow cats, and the Loudmouth exhaust with SLP bolt-on SFC's and everything is perfect. I had SLP do the work, so I am sure they knew all the tolerences and how to fit everything in perfectly.

I have shifted at 5800 RPM lots of times and never had any banging or any noise associated with the LT's or SFC's. Everything fits in just perfect.

Greg (Minty) has them on his car and so does Rudy 2k1 hawk from the MFBA...they hang pretty damn low and are a bitch to install....

The new hookers do look damn good, I can't wait to see what kind of #'s they will put out...

I didn't go with the SLP's because of my suspension...I hit everything and thats just with my Y...Rudy also made only 8rwhp with them and Loudmouth on his car...he had 303 stock..so thats 311 he made..

I had the SLP LT's with cats & I have SLP bolt on SFC's. Everything fit in perfectly & I had no banging problems. I added the loudmouth to that too & it sounded great.

Thanks to all for the responses! Sounds like fitment isn’t much of an issue with the SLP SFCs and LTs like I thought it would be. I’m not too worried about them hanging lower than other LTs as the car is not lowered and never will be. My friends stock height Z28 has had no issues with ground clearance in the couple of months he's ’ad them on and his sees a lot more street time than mine.

BIGBOS, I’ve heard about low peak dyno numbers associated with the SLP LTs. It seems that these produce more power under the curve than other headers but don’t shine as much at peak. All I can say is, dyno or not, my friend that has them (RPM Z28) went from a 13.46 @105.10 to a 12.90 @110.72 with only adding the SLP LTs (with out cats). That’s a lot of gains, and I’ve heard of others with similar gains as well. I’m going with the B1 cam, but in an effort to keep stress down on the internals I have my shift points set to only 62/6300, so the SLPs might do me more good in the 3500 to 5000 range than other long tubes that seem to gain more at peak but less under the curve than SLPs.

I know dynos don’t lie, but the gains I’ve seen on cars with these headers at the track is enough for me.

Again, thanks to all who responded!

SLP LT's are great. I've never had a problem with them. I also have the SLP Bolt in SFC's (Welded in for peace of mind). I also hav ethe Loudmouth. This setup sounds mean.

Don't have any aftermarket suspension parts, so I can't comment on them. Otherwise, mine have been great!! If your car's not lowered, ground clearance won't be an issue.

FYI, a buddy of mine has a 01 TA WS6 with SLP LT, Hi-flo cats, Corsa catback, Mallory MAF ends and a lid, he'd dynoed 353rwhp and 370tq (corrected), his atap number looked like sh*t, O2s were around .970~.990, only pulled 23 max timing, and Ltrims were 18. before the SLP headers he'd dynoed 330rwhp, so basically he'd picked up 23rwhp even the car was pig rich and out of tune, I would guess he should pick up few more hp when he lean out the car and get the timing back after he'd installed the MAFT.

I have had my SLP LT for almost a year. Great sounds, great fit. Dropped my time in 2000 from 13.8 to 12.6 this year. A lot had to do with the LT.

Yes, I just had some tubular ones welded in, the box ones will work too...

Ryan, good choice on the B1, I'm sure you will be happy with it..
