Default power loss above 5k?

tonight I was running up through the and once I got above 5k it seemed like there was a miss for a second or something.

I have all the bolt ons and I just put some NGK tr6's gapped at .046 since I just installed a 100 shot on the car.

would the plugs cause this? Do I have them gapped right or what?

The gap does look a little wide.Try .38.
Don't know if that is your problem.

Do you have a SLP underdrive pulley? I had one and had the same power loss at about 5200 rpm. SLP said it was inherent to the LS1 and there was no concern. Well, that was not good enough for me, I sent the damn thing back and got a store credit. I installed the ASP pulleys and have free revving to the max. I just didn't like the thought of having a lean condition on the juice.
Hope this helped, Randy Hughes
PS if you have the temp sensor module...take it off! No timing advance with NO2.

I just installed an ASP pulley today and it was definatly worth it <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> . Im thinking that it is the plugs. I read the colonels n2o tech files and gapped the plugs according to that.

From what I have been reading for the past few minutes Im thinking I should reduce the plug gap anyways.

Ok I just got done gaping the plugs to .039 and when I tried to start the car it didnt want to start at first, then I took it out and ran it up through the gears and above 5 thousand rpms it seems like the motor has a small miss or something. The second time I took it up through the gears the SES light started flashing and then eventually went off.

Can anyone tell me what is going on with my car? I did notice it after the pulley install but the pulley came off of another car and the other car didnt have any problems like this.

any ideas?

Did you check you fuel filter and try adding some fuel injector cleaner, also look over the throttle body area just to make sure nothing is loose.

well the car only has 11,800 miles on it so I wouldnt think it would have to do with the fuel system.

could one of the plug wires not be all the way on? I pretty sure that I have all the plug wires on all the way and everything plugged in. <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

So now Im pissed and dont know what to do with the car <img src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" border="0">

Can someone please respond and try to help me out.

Swap out the coil pack for that cylinder with another and see if the problem moves. If so, you have a bad coil pack. You could also swap the plug wire in question.

If those tests don't tell you anything, it may be time for a compression test to make sure everything in that cylinder looks good. You could have a bent pushrod, bent valve, etc, that could possibly show up as a misfire or ignition problem...

I just spent about $160 to replace all the coil packs on my car. Find ValveGod (on LS1.com) to get some great prices (less than 1/2 of what a dealer would charge you). Anything electrical that is subject to repeatative cycles (plugs, wires, coil packs) will eventually fail...it's really just a matter of when...of course, not everything is built perfect. You may have gotten a bad coil pack. I am voting on the coil pack idea too.

I'm fighting a miss fire as well. Only WOT 5600-5800 RPM's. Autotap shows #5 going dead. Took it to dealer, they replaced coil and said that fixed it. Went to crap on the way home same ol miss. Took it back, turned out to be a pin inside the connector was not making good contact. Supposedly on all of thier 65 miles of test driving with WOT runs problem sloved? Not on the way home after they assured me they corrected the problem and could not duplicate <img src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> . A-tap shows #5 still going dead 5600-5800. It's absolutley insane I'm losing 45+ RWHP & TQ to this on the dyno <img src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" border="0"> . It's back to the dealership on WED. The only thing that I thought I can try is moving the plug wire, that's the only thing that hasn't changed. And by the way no SES what so ever. Sorry so wordy and I hope it makes sense I just did 2 header installs today, Hooker shorties and mac's. Good luck to you and for crying out loud good luck to me <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">
