Default Head porting?

Were is a good place around the Va area to get heads ported and polished? I am looking at some 243's fully assembled for a pretty good price and want to have them up graded. Thanks

Oh and also, Is it even possible to get it machined to have the bigger valves put in it?

Also the heads that I plan getting are brand new, with the Yellow springs, What lift are they capable of?

The LS6 springs are pretty much useless with anything but a stock cam. You should just buy a pair of CNC ported LS6 heads from Patriot. It'll end up costing you more to buy a pair of stock heads and have them ported. There's also a good possibility they won't flow nearly as well.

We do have our CNC ported 243's on special right now for $995.00 per pair. This includes new castings, 2.00"/1.55" oem valves, Patriot Gold springs, ti retainers, 5 angle valve job, hand blended, and milled to your specs.

We are working on a LT1 program for after the first of the year. We do not have any kind of concrete date as of yet, but it is in the works.

I actually sent my 243's out to Patriot Performance and have been happy with the results. Through my experience though, what I've found is that the bigger valves are more trouble than their worth. Most aftermarket valves that you'd put in a 243 head have a thicker margin (the thickness of the bottom part of the valve that sticks down into the combustion chamber). This kills Piston to valve clearance. My recommendation, is to just get them CNC ported and milled. Stock valves are fine.

Glad to hear that, if you price it right you should pretty much own the lt1 market.

QFT. I was recently asked if Lloyd Elliot ports LS1 heads too.

I dont like to dick around with shops that dont deal with LS1's on a regular basis. That being said, send the heads off to someone who sees this stuff every day, preferably a site sponsor.

crazylane,
You absolutely couldn't beat the deal that Patriot is offering that Gunnar described above for both value and performance gains. I'd go for it if I were you!

Well I allready bought brand new LS6 Heads with valves and springs for 500.00. So I am not going to turn away now. lol.

If I was to send my heads off to Patriot Performance to get them CNC'D and Milled down some how much would that cost me? And roughly how long would it take for them to complete it?

All I want done is Port and Polish, and have them milled to 54cc. Unless you guys think the 64cc is better. And I also want the 5 angle valve job.

To do the porting, valve job and the milling, the cost would be $600.00. It would take us a couple of weeks to get them done. We will mill them to your specs, but 54cc will be milled approx. .060".

Woah!!! 54cc is really small, what application? Whats cam? Flycutting your pistons? Better do your research before you just make up a number. Results could be disastrous.

Exactly, we usually suggest a head be milled to 59cc at most.

Is that Polished also? And now that at I have done some research since then I would just like to keep the heads were they are, but with the bigger valves and the 5 angle job. Where would a good place be to get the bigger valves from? and also springs and retainers?

Do you guys sell them? And when the machine work is complete, have them assembled by you?

Thanks
