Default broken manley spring's

Ok I have ls6- ls2 heads with new Manley 221426 dual spring. On all the intake springs the inner spring has broken. Looks like the inner spring does not sit all the way down on the head.. valve seal holds it up and exhaust gets held up a bit as well… so what am I missing??

If I did not use the locator cup’s will this be the reasoning??

You need the different valve spring seats and new valve seals to complete the installation of the dual coil springs....I just found this out on my cam swap last weekend I've done a lot of cam swaps but never done one with the dual coil springs until this one so I've never needed to swap the seats. Bit me in the ***!!!

I was told that the Patriot and the Manley springs you could use stock heads I know that it is not true for Manley but what about Patriot’s or any other brand? Good for .650 lift

The heads aren't the issue. You just need to replace the valve seats(and seals). It's not too bad. You can get them from most of the sponsors.

You may be able to get the tops of the guides cut down to fit a smaller diameter seal and it sounds like a new size spring locator or cup may be needed also. The inner spring should not be making contact with the seal whatsoever. Have you also checked for the possibility of coil bind and are you using a dual spring retainer.

You need to get the right spring cups and new seals. Otherwise you'll break the springs like you did. There may be pieces of spring floating in the engine somewhere too after that...

Sorry for the confusion but the springs are hitting on the valve guides not the seals. And is their a spring good for a .650 lift without replacing guides or seals? Thanks for the great info
