Default Finally! Ed Wright tuning dynoed and Scanned.

I finally got the PCM send to Ed Wright and got it back late friday afternoon. I decided to take the car to Fastech and have it dynoed with a freind of mine to see what was happening but i could not compare with my last dyno #s because it's a different dyno and was told that it's about 10rwhp low. On i went anyways!

Here is the results of my pulls in order.

Cutout caped up: 319rwhp 333.3rwtq

Cutout uncaped: 338.7rwhp 364.2rwtq

Locked up converter: 356rwhp 361.8rwtq

Car dynoed 340rwhp 337rwtq last dyno i did so im happy.

Here are the Ed wright tuning results! O2s 903 to 908,KR 0,timing at WOT 28-30,shift points 6400rpms,revlimiter at 6800rpms and idle 850rpms. I am very happy with the tuning since i deleted TQ management and firmed up the shifts. The car is like a whole different car. Time for some track results! Come on and open up!

Is Ed still charging $450 for this on a mail-in PCM?

Yeah, it's 450 for the FIRST time. He said then after that it's 150 to retune if u make changes. I had him remove TM, change the rear to 3:73, lower the fan settings, and remove the egr code for the ls6 intake the first time. Now after I get H&C this winter I am contiplating sending it back to him for a retune. This would be a lot cheaper for me than a LS1 edit session with Julio and Dave. I hear that Ed USUALLY gets good results. Well I'll just have to wait and see.

James,im not knocking seans dyno but it's lower than the Dynojet we use in Bossier City,LA. but you have to realize that all dyno's are a little different. I'm sure sean's dyno is prolly reallisticly around 6rwhp different. Sean just said that their is about a 10-12 rwhp difference than a local shop in town. All in all a very nice dyno setup and top service by sean and his crew. They made all the changes for you (uncap the cutout, pull the K@N out if you want, ask what you want on each run and reinstall everything they took off the car. Very happy with the service there

The reason I was asking was because I went to Fastech late yesterday afternoon to dyno....I only pulled 350rwhp and 360rwtq....I have the TR 224 cam ( with stock programming), mac headers w/ ory, lid, pullies, and a cutout...I am not too happy w/ these numbers....I am wondering if it has anything to do w/ the 941 springs w/ stock retainers.....btw, I have a 2000 M6 SS

StreetStalker, Could you tell us how are you locking up the converter? With a switch or something? Is this a good mod to do?

I had the dyno shop to lock the converter with a TechII from GM. Those babies cost about 4K I need someone to post the easier way to manually lock up the converter? Maybe show a wireing diagram.

I told ya you'd be happy with the tuning. It's a night and day difference, as you said, and streetability is increased quite a bit. The difference between driving my car and driving my dad's bone-stock '02 SS A4 is night and day.
I wish I could've made it up to FASTech for your dynoing, but I got back into town yesterday afternoon. Sean's dyno is pretty accurate and has always read with 5-7 RWHP of other Dynojets that I've been on. I dynoed 7 RWHP higher at MTI w/ my T/A than I did at Sean's, FWIW. The weather was totally different, and there are always going to be a few RWHP difference from run to run. Sean and the gang always have awesome customer service!
It looks like Ed's tuning really made a big difference for you in power! 16 RWHP and 25 RWTQ will make a nice difference at the track! I'm anxious to hear your results. I'm still waiting to get to a sticky track myself since the 3.73's and tuning have been changed.

thanks reckless for clearing that,
streetstalker: aren't you supposed to use aftermaket retainers with the 941's ?? ( i did and had to replace them with the stock ones when i swapped to 918's because they won't work)

Trevor, thanks for some of the advice on ed's tuning. Wished i had the chance to meet you and see that sweet SS you got but we left very early because a freind of ours wanted to hit some of the old school speed shops around town, damn carb. racers lol.

1dirtyZ,On the 941s im sure they come with titanium retainers or you can order them. I installed the 918s a month ago after breaking one of the #5 cylinder springs and #8 (K motions) I reused my stock retainers with these springs and just found that they have the titanium retainers out,so looks like that will be my next valvetrain upgrade. I am very pleased with the 918s so far. They seem very rigid and strong out of the box compared to my K motions and are holding 6400rpm shifts along with taping the revlimiter on my dyno pulls at 6800rpms with very little if no valve float.
