Have you looked at the gauges when it's flickering? Could be anything: you're low on fuel, so when you nail it, enough moves away from the float so that it slightly reads at the point it would light the check gauges. Could be oil pressure, I don't recall if that's a hard MIL or not (I would hope it is!!!) or voltage as well. You could autotap everything that has a gauge and record a couple of runs.

Hope this helps.

I've been having the same problem since the fall. Haven't found anything yet though. Only possible issue is oil pressure on the high side at WOT and 4500+ RPM, but I haven't confirmed that as the cause.

Good luck, pleasedrop me line with anything you find out

Check your wiring harness plug that goes into the top of the alternator. Mine was doing this same thing once, and that plug was working itself loose. Just push it in and see if that fixes it.

I was playing with my car some more today. If I hold it in 2nd, about 4600 or so RPM the 'check gauges' light stays on until I get off the the throttle and the RPMs come back down bit. The oil pressure rises (obviously) but dosen't really get that high, only a bit over 60psi. What are you seeing on your pressure gauge that makes you think it's oil pressure?
Everything operates as normal, car runs as strong as usual, voltage if fine, got gas, etc. I'm with you, I really want to figure this out, it makes me nervous.

As a total shot in the dark, do you have a shift light or aftermarket tach tapped into the PCM tach signal?

bump for this as mine did it tonight! car is very stout an clocked consistent 12.7's a couple of weeks ago...seems to me like some type of short somewhere. I'm gonna check with nineball's advice and check my alternator harness and exciter wire. I had that off once when i did the motor mounts.
