Default Not too bad for the 1st DYNO PULL!!!!

This is buddies 408CI Vette just being completed at Cartek..

The first pulls after she was just fired up were 470+RWHP-460TQ,SAE corrected. This is with my original TPIS headers with the smaller 2-3/4 inch collector and the stock 2-1/2 inch pipes all the way back, this is also with 3.73 gears.I want to switch to a 3-inch collector and 3-inch exhaust out the back, this should add another 10-15 RWHP,I'm going to wait until I see some feedback on all these new headers such as LGM,Breathless,FLP,SLP to see some more solid INDEPENDENT dyno numbers, any of these companies that wants to send a set of there headers to Cartek for some independent testing on a big cube motor please let me know.So far I've not heard of any independent dyno and track testing of any of these headers.I'm hoping for 485+RWHP after the final tuning and the bigger exhaust goes on.Overall I'm real happy right now as the initial numbers are on par with most of the 422's and 427's that I've seen.Cartek says the car idles as smooth and quiet as it did with the stock cube heads and cam motor.I almost wish I went with a bigger cam and more compression, but this is my daily driver so we kept it on the mellow side.

Not to bad for the 1st pulls...
Once they put a REAL header on this setup it should make 485 to 490RWHP!!!

Looks like I'm going BIG STROKER

We need to take all these big cube engines and compare the dyno charts to see the area under the curve they all have. I have a feeling the 422 will be the better combo.

Joel thanks for the post.485-490 is what I'm looking for when it's all finished.I wish someone made a header with 1-7/8 tubes for a C-5.Cartek will post the chart when there finished dialing it in.I know it peaked at 6200rpm and torque peaked around 4500.

Send Mikey an e-mail or give him a call. If I remember correctly, he has info on a 1 7/8 header about to come out for the C-5. his e-mail is mike@rapidmotorsports.com

Later,

Mike

Thats great news..
With a big tube header this setup should net another 15 to 20RWHP...

Easily make 485RWHP/475RWTQ..
Then u add some giggly and

This thing is gonn fly
I gotta get a 408 for my car

On my way home from work, I drove by Cartek and heard them dynoeing a car(8pm at night, neighborhood must love this), so I decided to stop in. When I saw the dyno graph, my eyes almost popped out of my head, kind of like this . Julio & Dave looked like this It was stealth's vette. The car idled no different than a H/C car. That is going to be one animal on the road, a hardtop vette with 470+rwhp SAE corrected. Damn, I need a second job or something to get one of these. I should mention this was only a couple of hours after they started the car for the first time.
