Default Hooker LT Dyno results

Well guys, the results are in, and Im pretty happy considering.

I am now running pretty lean, on the ragged edge or 14:1.

Old numbers were 315.9 HP 323.3 TQ

First pull with Hookers was 327.4 HP 329.3 TQ
only gained 11.5 HP and 6 TQ but it was at 13.8 to 1 A/F ratio

Put a resistor in the IAT sensor, hoping that it would make it run a bit richer, and it did under 3K but at that point it started going lean again. it was leaner than the first run afterabout 3500 till the end. although the torque was better all the way untill about 5500 where it evened out.

Second run yielded 329.8 HP and 336.8 TQ
Gain of 2.4 HP and 7.5 TQ over the first
Overall gain of 13.9 HP and 13.5 TQ

I wanted to dyno with the other plates in, as they did make a small difference the last time i tried that, and i figured the headers would enhance that, but after seeing the A/F ratio I decided not to chance going lean by opening it up

Im going to borrow a buddies MAFT sometime in the next few weeks if we get a good day and see if we cant fatten it up to get some more dynos in.

Considering the Cost and fact that I am runnign so lean I am happy with the Hookers, plus the power below where the dyno measures is up a good bit.

What kind of mods do you? Judging from your numbers from the first dyno you don't have a lot of mods?

Hmmm, I am NOT at all impressed with those small gains, especially after the talk they put up about these headers. What did your 02's look like? Any knock? Most people see more of a gain with Mac headers, no flames towards you of course.

i dont have the Logs yet, my buddy needs to send them to me, no knock though i know that. just way lean.

I know most people are getting more out of the Macs and other headers, but are those people running 14 to 1 A/F ratio? I should be around 12.8-13 to 1.. I didnt think it would lean me out this much

actualy going in there i was hoping for 330HP/335 TQ I came pretty close to that, and I think i could have nailed it if i had played with the plates, but i was scared to.

if i get 335 HP and 340 TQ with MAFT I will be happy.

I am thinking i sould have put more miles on it with the Y also.

The headers leaned your a/f out?? That seems kinda backwards. What was your a/f on your dyno before the headers? Get it where it needs to be and you hp will go up no doubt. And if you opened the Borla up I think you would run richer, not leaner. You should have run that bad boy wide open.

before the headers I was at 13 to 1 or so. real good. Lots of people run leaner with headers, i dotn fully understand it, but it does happen. When I tested allt he plates I got slightly leaner the farther i got open, but they were all real close

Freak, Thanks for posting your dyno results. Is there any chance you could post the graph too?

I'd imagine a full 3" exhaust would help a bit too. Why only 2.5" for the new y-pipe?

You will probably dyno around 345-350RWHP when you have it all runed. I think the ported MAF might be hurting you as well.

Guys, I haven't dynoed yet but my car feels way stronger everywhere in the powerband and my go fast mods include only a lid, ported maf, headers, 3 inch y to 3 inch exhaust. If you have any doubts I would strongly recommend these headers. Hope this helps.

P.S. I messed with a c5 with exhaust on it up to about 60 the other day after putting my headers on an absolutely smashed it. I have race a c5 on the street from 0-110 and I only nudged him out by 2 car lengths or so and up to 60 I only had about 1 on him. Bottom line is the headers deffinately helped alot.

I'm glad you are happy with your results Freak. I myself am a little disappointed with the gains, but like you stated it probably has a lot to do with you AF ratio. Get that down to normal and I bet you will show much more impressive numbers. Your 2.5 inch y pipe could be hurting you too. Why didn't you go with a full 3" exhaust? At any rate, I am glad to hear that you are pleases with the new headers.

Had a discussion about that on here as well as with some of the guys at the shop. dual 2.5s flow more than a single 3 inch, so realisicaly there wouldnt be much power diff, the 2.5s are a good bit quieter and produce more low end torque and throttle response than a 3 inch Y. If I was going all out race car, I would have done that, but I have decided that since this is a street car I want all the low end i can get. plus the borla is plenty loud enough as it is

Yea the MAF was onne of the things I thought about, I cant seem to fit the stock one in the direct flow lid though, ill have to grind the lip off the outside. does the GMS LS6 or Pace Maf lean out the mix? or do they just let more air in?
