Default Cheapest way to get 400hp out of an LS1?

Just wanted to know what's the cheapest & practical way to get 400hp out of an LS1??? Intake, cam, heads, etc... Also, is it worth swapping the stock torque converter??? Thanks for the help

a converter is needed. the most efficient way is exhaust and a 125 shot of nitrous.

However, if you go with boltons and a cam that is your next best bet. 400rw in an automatic with some 3.42 or better gears should net you mid to low 11's

a good nitrious kit is going to be about the price of a descent cam swap. If you make 300RWHP and shoot a 100 shot then you are there. Now if you have bolt ons and you spray it then you can have more.

id go with LT headers/ORY, catback, fuel pump, and a 150 shot. That should give you well over 400wrhp.

notrous kit will be the fastest and cheepest. around $650 should get you a very decent wet kit that should put you at or over a mark. people say do the bolt-ons which is good for having power any time, and would compliment your setup nicely. a stall in an A4 is an excelent mod. it will keep you in your power ban and really wake you car up. dont forget sum tires though, cause if your going to spray a 150 and have a stall, your not going to get any traction.

Nitrous Kit would be the cheapest/quickest way for you to reach 400hp. I have full bolt ons and a 224/232 Lunati cam and I love having 408 rwhp all the time, thats the only bad thing about NOS. Anyhow, any avenue you decide to take, it will be fun either way (dont forget about some basic suspension mods)! Best of luck...

I figured id ask the question what do you want to do with your car. Because that will affect the answers youre gonna get. If you really dont care about having the power all the time and just wanna occasionally go take a blast down the quarter mile then i would definately say just hook up some nitrous and be done.

But if you really wanna do it right, then you have to go through all the supporting mods so that the car can breathe well. Lid, ls6 intake if you dont already have it, PP throttle body, headers, exhaust. A converter would be a smart choice. Then throw in a nice cam if you want that 400hp all the time, or throw on some nitrous if you just want the power on the drag strip. Then get that thing tuned and hit the strip. And tires...dont forget sticky tires, and you prolly wanna do some suspension stuff too.
