HAHA!! I never said that! Just doing some investigative work before spring. I'm gonna ask them about the 20% discount you get thru CamaroZ28.com too. That'd bring it to about $545.

You're gonna uncork about 50HP once you get headers

But whats it going to cost to go get a set of cats a y pipe and off road pipes. Still going to bring to total to what a set of FLPS run but alot more headache involved. I think I am going to wait and see what kind of numbers these things put up before I jump to fast. But right now its a toss up between Hookers (and the headaches) or FLP's complete package. Right now as far as I know we havent heard how they fit or any other problems associated with that and will they work with a car that has been dropped about an inch. Right now its all hearsay until I see some hard numbers and hear something "from the horses mouth" (ie someone one here and not a holley rep). I am not bagging on them just want to see what the quality is like once they start mass production.

Set of Random Tech cats = $260
Custom y-pipe = $200?

Once I do headers I'll probably just leave the cats on. More chance of it leaking if I keep switching between OR/cats.

"Freak" posted here and at LS1.com about his power gains on the dyno.

I've put on the headers and it is very easy but time consuming. The passenger side just slide right in from the bottom. The driver side requires one of two things. First, you have to take off the oil diverter plate (a small piece right on top of the oil filter that once taken off you will loose about 1 pint of oil, I lost less). Then you can choose to either take off the steering arm or grind off the casting ear on the block (once you try to to slide the headers in with neither one of these things done you will see the casting block it is hitting on). I could not get the bolt off the rack and pinion assembly so I just grinded the casting ear off. If you do this make sure to tape up the oil diverter plate assembly *** to not allow any mettle shavings inside of it. Good luck.

P.S. The headers maid a very noticeable difference in my bolt ons car with only lid, !maf
, and now three inch y to three inch intermediate pipe.

I talked with Holly, today, about the y-pipe. It's not out yet, should be soon they said. My question to Holly was whether the y-pipe could be cut and cats installed. I was concerned about clearance issues. They frankly said they had no idea because the pipe is designed strictly as an off-road pipe and they hadn't even looked into the possibility of cats.

Those dyno results only showed a 10 and 11hp gain if I read them correctly. Not to much bang for the buck, I have seen higher number with the FLP's but not by to much on the same set-up. But I guess every car is different. This is one of those things where you never know whats going to happen and its kind of a shot in the dark. In the imortal words of Forest Gump "Momma always said, you never know what youre gonna get in a box of headers"

The Hookers will make the same or more power than the FLPs due to the 3 inch Ypipe. Also tuning problems are his reason for the lower numbers.

I think he can get a few more ponies once the a/f gets figured out. I forgot about the mix problem still being worked on. It sure would be nice if holly would put an entire kit together (headers, y pipe, O.R. pipe and cats)

well there are two things wrong with using my cyno to compare headers. tuning, as chris already stated, and the fact that it is THE dyno of hookers , not ONE OF, but THE. as far as I know the first and so far the only one (at least that has been reported) the same mods on different cars will yeild different results.

I am pretty confident that the tuning will bring up the numbers, I just reinstalled my stock MAF to try and richen it up, and ill be trying out a MAF translator also. (unfortunately i wont get a chance to dyno again all that soon)

as for bang for the buck, FLPs get around 15-20 HP right? so 20 HP for $1250 vs 10 HP for $638 (that includes everything but gas to get it to the exaust place to do the Y) seems like its right on par with the other headers in that dept. with tuning, it might surpass them. we wont know for sure untill more testing is done

I hope the tome of that post didnt imply i thought you were flaming me or anything, I didnt, I was just pointing out some stuff.

particularly the "one dyno" thing, i remember when the FLP and SLP headers came out, everyone was using the first dynos as proof that A was 1000 times better than B, its just not good practice ya know (I love that burnout smiley)

I see what your saying I dont mean to come off wrong to anyone but this has just been a real tough mod decision for me. I might just have to flip a coin.
