Default New Dyno #s LG motorports G5 cam/head

We just re-dynoed the latest C5 vette with our Cam and Head package. It had a bad intake air temp sensor.

The new numbers SAE corrected were

436.7rwhp
422 rwtq

Through the mufflers Corsa PRTs with no cats
using LG Long Tube stainless headers.

This is a stock bottom end car with only a cold air intakd and Corsa exhaust. No pulleys or any other bolt ons. This is the same cam that we used in RATs WS6 A4 to get 392rwhp with stock untouched heads. We also just finished two Z06s with 430+ rwhp with the G5 package.

Later,

Who might they be?

SAE Corrected,
Through the mufflers, with NO ported TB, NO pulleys, and with full belts on.

It would be interesting to take an honest poll.

Great numbers Lou! Do those C5's have LS1 or LS6 heads on them?

Oh yeah, register a new name instead of using Louis' log-in. "LG Motorsports" or something, that way I can put "LS1Tech Sponsor" under the name.

Thanks,
Tony

LG, what are the specs on this cam your refering to, i have heads and cam already, but i'm wanting to upgrade to a larger cam. I am currently running a extreme energy cam with 532 lift, 216-220 @ 114 lobe seperation. want something over 560 lift with 112 lobe. my current setup will hold up to 580 lift. i would like to know both the price of the cam and the price to install it please. thanks, Lowell Washington ( Bubba )

Those are some serious torque numbers for a stock disp. car.

I thought the only stainless headers on the market were SLP. Please post some info on clearence issues of your headers. I will not put a non-stainless header on my car and SLP will not work with my eibachs. I would be very interested.

I may have missed it but what year is the car (LS6 intake, heads?). Any pricing information you can give out, packages (Cam, LT's, tuning..)

I also posted about driveability on the other board with no reply. What is driveability like on an M6 daily driver?

TIA
-Nick

Niphilli,

It was from a C5, not an f-body. Great numbers, and Im also interested in the cam.

Those are some great #'s, especially on the torque! Now that you have some solid #'s, I say you should put on a ported TB and pulley to see what the difference is.

Lou,

Please post some dyno charts!! Your peak numbers sound awesome and the torque number is great for heads/cam only LS1. With the durations you have eluded to with this came, peak numbers may be nice....but....what kind of rpm are we talking and how does the dyno look through the low to mid-range rpm?

Since John doesn't seem to visit here often I'll post this on his behalf Here is a link to his (big) dyno graph, the numbers from Lou's first post above:

http://images.fotki.com/photos/1/196...yno01sm-or.jpg

The comments that reference a ported TB are incorrect and are leftovers from some earlier dynos.

Topless,

Thank you. Those are some interesting "swings" in the midrange torque, can see them repeated in the HP curve as well. I think I would hold off on this set up until some more information is posted.

My car is also pulling in the 430+ range.....but I don't have any torque I don't know the specs on the cam you are using, but I am sure it is a bit bigger than my tiny T1 cam.....

I do have an ASP pulley on my car tho....

My pull was through the muffler, stock TB, ect....

Congrats on the awesome #'s

They did catch my eye when I first saw these plots. Given that the two are not independent variables the correlation isn't surprising. I wish I had TQ above 350 lb ft after 2500 RPM. I'm most curious about the flat spot in the TQ curve around 4K. Maybe somebody can hypothesize a little...

Doh! Just when I got my hopes up for annother stainless LT for the f-bod. My bad dumb question.

That is an interesting curve, looks almost like a progressive boost turbo car ??? any experts want to take a guess?

That or he has a cam in there ground on a LSA of 106! Talk about a "peaky" torque curve.

All the LS1 dyno's I have seen, and it is a lot, plus my own experience with 2 different cam and heads set ups on my car, prove that their is generally a spot on LS1 motors where the torque suddenly takes off. Typically, it is somewhere around 3K rpm. The fact that this dyno shows 2 very distinct areas raises questions with me, and yes, I agree it looks like something gives it a "punch" at the second flat spot.

I am looking foward to seeing more dyno's posted on this set up.

Its time for him to go in for an LS1 EDIT session.

It appears that the cams, heads, etc change VE curve more than the MAF system can compensate for.

Fixing A/F ratio throughout the band will fix up the torque curve. If he has a hard scavenging setup, its going to have a torque curve that rises pretty quickly.

TQ peak will occur at VE peak and TQ curve will mirror VE curve. If TQ curve shape does not match VE curve there are a/f ratio problems.

Get the LS1 EDIT session, 423rwtq is nothing short of amazing, it should not nose over to 430ish rwhp either...
