heads/cam decided...?
I think i've made my final decision for a head/cam package for my 02 LS1/a4...going to be a daily driver 2
(everything from TSP)
-stage 1 ls6 heads w/prc dual spring kit
-233/239 114lsa cam
-ls6 ported oil pump
-ls2 timing chain
-heads/cam bolt gasket kit
...damn...trying to search for the right h/c package on a tight budget is a big bitch...huh.
all the searching/thinking gave me a fu*kin headace...
to everybody with this combo (or similar to this), make me feel better and tell me this is a good setup...
or heck...anybody 2nd this setup would be helpful too.

I had a Yank ST3500 in my TA and loved it. It made to much torque for DR's and e.t. streets barely held the torque with my setup.

yeah...the stage 1 LS6 or the stage 2.5 heads is my toughest decision. either one would be good to me and price diff. is not that bad also.
both shouldn't have any clearance issues with 233/239 cam.
Any big deal between the two..? as far as power?

the 5.3's will up your compression to 10.75:1, but as far I can gather they flow similarly with the intake runners of the 5.3's being 220 and the LS6's being 237.
I believe the LS6's would work better for bigger cams and better top-end performance and the 5.3's would be better for middle sized cams.
I think the difference would be seen in side by side comparisons of the HP and TQ curves, not necessarily in peak numbers.
There is no testing to back any of this up, just speculation on my part.

let me know what you get because im in the same situation. i allready have the 233/239 114 cam and am looking at heads next. i also allready have a 3800 stall and it works well with this cam. im up in the air about which heads to get, the 5.3's or the ls6's. which heads would work better for a more track oriented set-up, i hardly do any street racing? what about milling, valves, and gasket size?

This sounds like a really good set up. I bet it will make great power. And it will fly with a good stall. I've been watching results on this cam.
I'm in the market for H/C as well. It gets really tough when choosing one. So many options and great products out there!
