Default POLL.Need a little help picking H/C pakage.

I'm in the market for a new H/C set up. I'm not real concern about price. This not a DD. So I looking for something aggressive. I want to make close to 500RWHP as I can. I also want a broad TQ range. Not something that is going to fall off fast.

1st off is a AFR combo. 205's with ? cam. I'm not sure on cam selection yet.

2nd is a set of trick flows with VRX1 cam from vengeance Racing. They seem to be making killer power these days.

I have talked to both company's. Both sound very good to me. That's what is making my decision so hard. This is a big purchase.

Or something else? Maybe ETP heads? But I'm not trying to wait 5 months to get them.

And please, no bashing of one or the other. I would like to hear from real experience. No posers please!!

I'm trying to get a feel of what everyone thinks of these products.

Id check with T-56 rebuilds, I saw one of their sigs stating a h/c, stock block showing 515ish rwhp. I would contact them. i dont remeber the user name.

500 seems to be the rarity.

Texas Speed has a heads and cam package that gained 129hp over a stock LS1 after a tune if that helps

I say either AFR w/ g5x3 or g5x4 or the Trick Flows with a vengance cam. Both of these setup's are proven time after time for putting down big numbers. with other setup's its a hit or miss. definately spend the money and get one of these setups and you can rest assure that your going to be making great power without a question.

I gained 28 rwhp with Dart 205s over my stock LS6 heads. H/C I made 451 rwhp and 423 rwtq with a Futral F14 cam.

LG Motorsports has an 02 zo6 graph posted on their site in the results section. afr 205's and g5x4 cam made 494 rwhp and 412 rwtq. Pretty close to 500 rwhp if you ask me. Go check it out and give Bobby a call at LG for pricing.

Hey Brian. What heads did you put on your car? I know benny is going with darts. Due to the pricing. But I'm not worried about price. I want the absolute best I can get!

My fist choice is the AFR's due to the proven history of performance you get with them.
But then on the other hand. I want to go out on a limb a little and try some new. That does not have the proven performance as much as AFR's.Hmmmm.

You already have a G5X-3 on a 114LSA (or clone). That's a great cam and hard to improve upon (unless you choose a little narrower LSA)

The AFR 205 and TFS 215 head would work very well with that cam and driveability would be great. Since it sounds like you don't want a big Donkey Dick cam, you should consider keeping the cam you have and adding the heads. Whichever you choose, shoot for a static compression ratio at or above 11.0:1. Torque is your friend.

Pat the only bad thing about this cam is, I bought it used on here about 2years ago. It is a copy cat. The #'s on it are ground off. I was told the lsa was 114 or 114+4. The guy was not sure.

I sent it to comp and this is the sheet they gave me. The guy at comp said he could not tell how much advance ground in it. Here's the sheet.

And I would love to see 11.5 to 11.8 comp.

Would I benifit by going with a 236/240 or 238/242? Or one of these new lsk/xer lobe cams?

I have some of our in-house heads. Outlaw Motorsports stage 2. You know the power that my modest setup made.

I picked up 125+hp with a TSP head and cam package along with headers and bolt ons but no 90/90.

CAM FOR SALE: Comp Cam 228/232 .588/.595 111+1

That pakage is looking very tempting. I would like to see how they do on the street and track.
