I am ordering a new intake, the cost is not the factor. With the setup I am running which one do you recommend. The Holly will hold heat and being in FL you know it will be cooking come summertime, the good point is that it can be ported to 85mm. With the Holly comes the hauling ice to the track to cool the manifold.
The LS6 is going to be much cooler on the street.
Is it worth it to upgrade to the Holly or just stick with the LS6.
Thank you for your input.

Nobody knows for sure how much those Holley's will benefit us over the LS6 intakes. GM actually did a pretty damn good job with the LS6 intakes since they gain good power over the LS1 intakes and do so without sacrificing any torque.
When MTI gets a Holley intake delivered (have been ordered for a long time now!) we will slap them on the flowbench ASAP and compare them to the LS6 intake.
I'm currently looking forward to the results myself, because I am building a larger motor and this is important info

I'm all but positive the Holley intake will make more power due to porting/port matching and icing down at the track. But on the street its going to heat soak like a wood stove. At the track better et, on the street, the ls6 is gonna be hard to beat.

Nine Ball, what are your thoughts on the heat dissapation performance issues with this. I hope they Holly's flow better. Am I going to loose that much HP with the Holly to offset any advertised gain because of the heat? If this is a track only benefit I am not sure I want it.
My reasoning is the Holly will hold the heat on street driving, being alunimumn should cool the engine faster due to heat transfer though the manifold and running the fan when engine is not running. Being that the LS6 is plastic it holds the heat under it and acts somewhat like a insulator. With the possible gains in porting and additional air flow through the manifold shouldnt the temp. stay somewhat lower with the additional air flow during operation.
Just some thoughts, anybody else have some input?

I have decided to go with the LS6 intake, Thank you for your help. Being in Florida the heat would be too much during normal operation.

I got this from one of his posts. Maybe he changed it back. [quote] U-dawg, it IS the SAM intake. I will be doing some tests on it is influence on my car in the 1/4 mile. I'll keep y'all updated. Dont you worry. For the uninformed. It is a Metal LS1 intake from Holley that has had its plenum opened up and some radius work done on the runners. Will it help? LOTS of folks dont think so. I beleive it should. Bigger plenum, better runners, etc.

I wonder if its worth the extra money. I finally saved enough for it but if the ls6 is just as good maybe I should get one of those.

Extra Money????
How much is the LS6???
I know the Holley is gonna sale for $450-$475, I thought the LS6 was that much or more???
I have the Holley on order, should ship later this week. I will post results of Port Matching to heads as soon as I have some numbers.
