We went and picked up some dual exhaust that was originally fabbed up by Dave Purlee aka 'Silver LS1!.'
It's basically Spintech 3" piping, goes round to oval, oval back to round, and the Dynomax bullets and turndowns. It was not extremely loud on Dave's car, but he had a stock longblock with two stages of nitrous. I have a 422ci with a 242/242/114 camshaft and I think it will be extremely loud and very lopey.
We are using www.BVPerformance.com for our pcm tuning, they use LS1 Edit, for our dyno tune which should be next week. We hope to hit over 475rwhp thru the exhaust. We may try a run with open headers too.

Hey John, Dr. Gas makes some beautiful 3" oval X-pipes for nascar applications, im sure they can fab you up one for your setup. I am going in for dual exhaust with my new dynatech stepped headers, custom merge collectors, Dr. Gas X-pipe and dual bullets with turndowns this wknd as well. Best of luck!

John you should definitely do an open header run or 2 too get an idea of how restrictive the exhaust is. I've known a few people to change systems after finding out the results and a few that were extremely happy with their choices.

I changed my mind.
I put it on today.
I went to Iggy's Muffler on Montrose, and worked with Danny who always does my exhaust changes.
We took off the existing exhaust, and then we evaluated the exhaust I have purchased. We figured out that I needed to cut off some of the length, not a whole lot, since Dave had use this dual exhaust with Mac midlength headers.
Next issue was what to use for flanges. This time I lucked out. I have a set of used TTS longtube prototypes/early headers. TTS used 2 bolt truck 3" flanges when they made the first two sets of headers. We found two flanges that came off trucks that got custom exhaust and mated them up with the duals.
I have the front of the duals like about an inch from the floorboard. I have the rears lower. I think I can raise them up a bit. I drove around, and on the highway, I did not have ground clearance issues.
Sound?
Louder at idle.
Louder at part throttle.
Not a lot louder.
At 3000 no problem.
At 5000-6200 the car sounded like a top fuel dragster. I scared the jerk in the M3 pretty bad in I90.
This new setup can't be heavier than the old, maybe I even knock 10-20 lbs of the car. I remove some of the rear heatshields now too.
All in all, I did the exhaust to maximize what the car can do at the track. It's really loud for a cammin' car with compression.
Car feels like it pulls harder up top but frankly it's so loud, and I spinning on ET Streets, that it's hard to say.
Dynoing it this week with BV Performance and Speed Inc.

Where does these pipes stop, before the rear axle? Turndowns or does it just stop? Keep us posted if you have any ground clearence issues.

3" piping into Dynomax bullets, and then like 3-4 inches with a turndown. I believe in a turndown because a backfire could melt some of the wires back there.
I have no ground clearance problems. And the back is pretty low, I am going to raise the back up like an inch as long as the driver's side pipe doesn't get too close to the fuel line.

John, get some header wrap, & wrap the fuel line in that area. Then take off the middle plastic clip on the fuel rail there, slowly push the fuel lines up until you can bolt the clip back in. The bolt will now be holding in the clip on the bottom. The rest of the clips will ensure that it is firmly held into place. You will want to place the bullets up until they are about 1/2" away from the floor. ALL new exhaust settle,,, so they will eventually drop a small bit after that. Glad that worked out for you. I'm curious as to what kinda gains you will see with this setup. Let us know.

I was worried about the exhaust banging on the floorboard when the motor torques up but I think those fears are unwarranted at this point.
I'll try some header wrap and your other suggestions. I want the rear of the exhaust higher for a better look, not because it drags or anything.
I will say it's amazing loud at WOT, like a dragster... HEHE.
I am hoping for 480rwhp think good thoughts for me.

Dyno session got pushed off until next week.
Changes since the last dyno are the exhaust, we'll have some new pcm tuning via LS1 Edit, and a new fuel pump.
