The kit is comprised of a valve-spring compressor and two air-hold fittings, which introduce compressed air into the cylinder to keep the valve closed while you work.
Has anyone used this? Is it any good?

Most people use the crane cams one: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=3&pcid=17
I've used one similiar to the SLP one pictured on your link and it was almost impossible to use it. The Crane cams one does 2 at a time.

The Crane Cam one works great. You could also bring the piston all the way to TDC if you don't have the air fitting if your worried about a valve dropping,But you would have to do that on every cylinder. And I never tried SLP's.....................Paul

I heard those kind of compressors arent very good. Spend a little more and get the crane one. There was a thread a while back about this guy who fucked one of his springs up with that style of compressor.

The SLP tool works fine for regular springs, a little dicey with beehives. The comp tool works really well. Put the piston at TDC and lock the engine in place - easy with a manual - a pain with an automatic. I use a leakdown tool to pressurize the cylinder, lets you see pressure start to drop if one of the valves is sticking to the spring.

Many high performance springs have surface treatments such as nitriding or shot peening. Using that type of compressor can scratch the spring surface and shorten the life of the spring. Don't use it. The Crane unit is excellent and only $15 more from Vinci High Performance, look under their web specials. >>>>>>>
