Motor is back together, runs like crap...
So let's start at the beginning...
The car is a 98 TA, and because the oil pump was goin bad we pulled the motor. The idea was to rebuild it and do a ARE head ca swap as well.
I replaced the crank with a brand new one, Clevitte bearings, new rings, new chain etc. The pistons and rods are stock. Had all the clearences checked after putting a new cross hatch for the pistons, and everything was good.
Went with a ARE stage 2 head, and a 226 234 ARE cam. Not mention the ls6 intake, 30lbs svo injectors and various other things..
Anyways, the shop im having do the work got the motor in and started it and it idled fine. We reved it up just a tad and it ran fine.
Weather wasnt nice so they had to wait to take it out. 2 days later it was started again since the weather was much better.
As soon as the car started it started to pop and miss. Fuel was coming from the tail pipe, and we got a check engine light for "LOW MAF FREQ" or whatever.
The MAF is recieving 5 volts to it. thats fine.. it even has signal coming from it. All the wires to and from the MAF look good...
The grounds look good as far as we can tell..
This valve train is NOISY as hell btw.. 150 thou shorter pushrods with 80thou lash caps. Nick at ARE says this is what i should have for my higher compression..
So right now im completely clueless....
Any ideas?
Thanks guys

My books are at work,BUT! I'm having to go through The Big Three thing and each 1 is different. THIS AN I THINK! AT HOME WITH BRAIN AT WORK! So, here we go. U got to have Road to go to 60mph then let off the gas and coast to (can't remember) 40,30 or 20. #3 TIMES IN SUCSESION! Could be 15 mph. Like I said, books at work. So u found a road u can do this on. Go to 60mph, let off gas and COAST to 20mpr.COAST! DO NOT HIT BRAKE! Three times. If u hit the brake, it remembers ur last. Do it three times. Then it Relearns ur crank Profile. Like I said. I can't remember which Lowwer mph's so im going with the lowest, 20 mph. I will Look in my notes and post.

If it's coughing and sputtering, and it's spitting fuel out the exhaust, it sounds to me like your timing is way off... as if your timing chain jumped a tooth or so.
Check all the simple stuff first though - like the plug wires still on the plugs, coil pack connectors still plugged in...

How are you adjusting for the bigger injectors?
MAFT? LS1Edit? Custom PCM?

actually john..
7.250's with 80thou lash caps per Nick at ARE.
and NO its not the injectors..
If it was the injectors then why would the car run for a year with 30lbs and my old head cam combo????
