Default newbie h/c advice

i plan on putting a h/c package on this month and was wondering what yall suggest for an 02 ss m6 w/ pacesetter LT, catted y, borla...DD so don't want anything too extreme

Comp Cams Xtreme RPM Hydraulic Roller Cam, 224/228 duration with .534/.537 lift and 112 LS
AFR 205cc Mongoose Street heads

also what i might need to strengthen it all up to ensure that it lasts

thanks

With those heads...contact Tony Mamo of AFR and get the 224/228 .581/.588 cam he sells for those heads. If you want a little more, consider a LSK cam with similar specs to the one in my signature or Patrick G's car. Patrick's is a 110+0 LSA and mine is a 114+2 LSA. You would have to use the AFR 8019 springs or equivalent to optimally run our cam.

the 223/227 is a LSK lobe cam. While the low lift .050 duration numbers are slightly smaller than the 224/228 XER cam, the ramps on the LSK lobes are much more agressive and the duration numbers at lifts above .050 start pulling away 2-6 degrees larger than the 224/228 XER cam. Don't let the advertised .050 numbers fool you.

That's a very well proven combo. I'd talk it over w/ Tony and go from there. ya can't go wrong w/ ARF 205's.

so what difference in power/torque would the lsk lobe 223/227 make over the xer 224/228 ones make...and where in the power band (ie: low, mid) comparing the two. How would i go about deciding on a cam for an a4 as far as lobe and lsa because i know the tuning is an issue when compared to the m6. i think its safe to say both bryan and i are pretty drawn with the AFR 205, but its mainly the cam where we need more of your guys help. oh yeah...what about the chamber of the heads (ie: 61cc, 63cc).

i'd say you're looking at over a grand for an install and tune. the lsk lobes verses the xer lobes are probably good for 10 or alittle more rw.the xer lobes put up great numbers and even a spring like the comp 918s will generally last well over 15k.

At LG Motorsports you can get an X series cam of your choice and AFR 205's for less then 3 grand. As far install and tune, you'll have to give Bobby a shout. I under your SIG that you are claiming Dallas Ft Worth. Not tooooo far from Wylie? Less then an hour right?? Go check out theie website www.lgmotorsports.com

Good luck. See numbers in my sig for a taste of what they can do for you.

Look at an X3 cam from LG and the AFR heads. Will give you some good power. Talk to them about it and talk to Tony Mamo too.

I love my TRAK cam. It may be a little big for what some consider a daily driver, but I have driven daily for over 10,000 miles with no problems, albeit I have an awesome tuner (Jeremy Formatto) Makes crazy power and drives perfect with 4.10 gears.

At the bare minimum you would need
new timing chain
new springs
hardened pushrods
gaskets/seals
bolts/studs
tune

highly recommend a new oil pump and possibly new lifters depending on milage and year of the engine.

variable depending on head and cam setup as to what you would need for those though.

I am going to have FLP do the install, so all you stated above i will get that. But my question is, would a TRak be too much for NON P&P heads? I plan on doing no head work...

My car is a 2002 M6 Trans Am. Not a DD anymore. car has 41K on it..

again.. Comp 918s or 921s, LS2 timing chain, SVO 30# injectors, LS6 Oil Pump, Chromolly 7.4" Pushrods. I think i should be ok with the Lifters. But i dont know about retainers....

What else and would this be an ideal set up?? Basically a street car, sees the track 1 maybe 2 times a year.

Any more help
