Default ?? For those who removed TM from the PCM?

What did this do for you in the 1/4?
I've seen some runs where my timing has actually gone to -4 on some shifts. What kind of improvement can one expect?

Thanks!

I haven't done it but my friend JNorris has, and he keeps excellent records of all his mods. Maybe he will chime in here in a second.

IMHO, would not turn it off completely since other functions also use it like traction control, active handling, A4 trannies.
I would do some PCM scans and do hard launches, record Delivered torque and then using LS1-edit set the max torque value in PCM to just above the highest value you see in traces.

If G.M set the max torque value to 350 ft/lbs and you added mods that would increase torque, then anytime you spike over the max value T.M is kicked in and it costs you performance.

While your calibrating the PCM with LS1-edit also tone down knock and misfire they also eat performance when you really need the power.

It is Torque Management. It is in all the A4's. It can steal torque from you car. More towards the 2000-2002's.

Torque Management (TM) is a function that allows the PCM to react to reduce performance when the PCM believes it is feeling too much load on the drivetrain, trannie, and of course those of us with C5s that have other functions an F-body does not have.
Its a way PCM can monitor and determine if timing or reducing amount of gas injected to reduce power.

If you have a PCM scanner, monitor Delivered Torque and if you see negative numbers when your in fuel trim cells 0-19, then T.M has been called on.

I was wondering, what tables do you edit to go about this. Say I want to desensitize the knock sensors, make them have less impact on the timing curve. What would I change? I am not sure what I am looking at here with the knock retard and decay tables.

Is there anyway to get rid of TM in my 2002 for cheap. The LS1 Edit is not out for my car. What do you all recommend? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.

Yep, I agree. Bump the stock 350 number up just above your actrual peak.

I've seen timing at shift go as much as 5deg negative with total timing during my runs off as much as 4deg.

I saw around .1 improvement in the 1/4. I had MTI do the programming.

I wish they would hurry up and get LS Edit out to individual users. I can't wait.
