Default Project 2002 TR224 S2 dyno results

We finished our dyno session at JD's today to dyno My new S2 2.02 heads and the Thunder Racing 224/114 cam and I hope these are good numbers. unlocked stock converter yeilded 401 HP @ 6300 and 373 TQ @ 5,000 in change SAE corrected Through FLP Lt's and there brand of cats, Med plate in the Borla. At one point of the tunning, I had the torque as high as 380 but moving more fuel here and less fuel there seemed to pull away from that and just made more HP. There is not a whole lot of !mods! done yet so I am sure a ported TB and some other choice parts <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> will bring these numbers up a little better. I will have someone Host-N-Post the graphs for me and insert it into this thread. Something I found interesting is how it carries the HP across the chart it starts 390 RWH from 5700 RPM, peaks at 6300 and pulls over 390 all the way to 6700 RPM, I am going to work on getting the torque a little higher and the Vig 3600 goes in soon. Lookin for 11.20 in close to stock weight with this car. PS the Thunder cam sounds real good!

Ported TB and no cats and you would be sitting at 420 HP.

When is Bear's package going to be ready? I looking forward to your findings on the LS6 heads v. LS1 heads

Great work Joe.

I was there yesterday and I gotta say that those guys at JD's are great. They take their time, don't tell you to 'get that thing off the dyno, its done' and they are really interested in every car making its full potential.

Now back to the car. It is so mild sounding at idle. My 218/221 sounds more agressive than this TR cam and Joe's new S2 heads. The torque curve was unreal. It shot up to the 370 range and just sat there for most of the pull.

I gotta say Joe, I think you have found the ticket both on the dyno and soon to be seen on the track.

The dyno is nice, but we all know at the track is where it counts.

Looks good Joe. Get those little mods done and I'm sure it will make as much power as that other east coast shop. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

JS, I believe Joe mentioned 2 times now that there are hardley ANY mods done to my car yet, so where is the misleading? I was there for the dyno session and it was totally straight up without any screwing around like some shop do, I am good with the numbers and Joe has more editing to do and got exactly what I paid for so why would you have a problem with this? It's my car. For the dyno I still have to do the ASP, EWP, 12" short belt, Cat delete, 3600 stall locked down and ported TB with a modded air box so where is the problem? We ran it at the track as is last night and it ran 12.10 at 115.98 with a 2.0 and 2.1 60' with no converter, no gears, stock weight, spare and jack in on F1 tires! and the sway bar still on and I know for a fact the converter is worth .7 tenths off alone without weight and swaybar. With future mods for the track we should be on 11.20 with no problem, all I wanted was a 11.50 to begin with in stock weight.

No no u took it the wrong way.
Joe put up numbers that will drop once the verter is installed but go up once the verter is locked.Relax I'm sure Joe knows what I meant. No dig on your car or joe.

Those r great times for that setup
The TB wont pick u up all that much but the pulley will net u almost a tenth.

Converter should net u easily .4.
Joe got .7 with DR not street tires.

I bet with skinnies, welds, and the rest of your mods u should run say 11.40's for sure.

Good luck.

Just got back from Atco, 45-50 MPH angle head wind, new time slip opening the Borla and dropping the rear F1's down to 20psi hitting the rev limiter 2 to 3 was 11.99 @ 115.67.

60" 1.848
330 5.109
eight mile 7.73 93.75 MPH
990 9.970
quarter mile 11.990 @ 115.67

gotta figure out why the 2nd to 3rd is hitting the limitter?

I ran Tommy Talon WS6 and this is how that turned out.

Tommy's run.
60' 2.087
330 5.383
eight mile 8.0 @ 93.79
990 10.241
quarter 12.20 @ 119.09

My back up Run on the limiter 2 to 3 <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

60' 1.859
330 5.144
eigth mile 7.788 @ 93.48
990 10.01
quarter 12.032 @ 115.63

We were about to drop the cats and sway bar and bolt on the DR's just to run it out to see whats left in it and we were warned sternly not to go into the elevens again or it's parking lot bait. <img src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" />

Don't worry about hitting the revlimiter. Joe will tell you my car did that initially, then it learned itself out and stopped. FWIW, the very first night we took my car to the track it only went 12.3 because of tuning issues. I went from 12.3 to 11.9 just by getting the car dialed in better and dropping 54 pounds off the curbweight. Just be patient, once the PCM is dialed in completely the car will run great!

I believe thats what Terrys MMS S2X/224 cam dynoed? That should make u real happy Joe as your heads r smaller than Terrys S2X .Isnt that right Terry?
<hr></blockquote>

I made 407rwhp with my MMS 2x/224 cam (unlocked), and 435rwhp with my MMS 2x/229 cam (locked).
Figure he will pick up 15rwhp going to a locked 9.5" converter.

JS what did your Cartech setup make again?

442.5RWHP and 400.1RWTQ Terry LOCKED and on a real dyno sheet not like some guy in Cali who used a some spreed sheet he printed up at my house <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

45 to 50 mog headwinds?
Did u check that on your weather station?
Winds were gusting to 28 to 34 outta the NORTHWEST today.Dont make excuses about wind though the DA was good all day too so its a moot point.

Throw u out for 99?
Hell Atco is getting worse and worse.
They let me run 11.80's til they gave me the hook. Those bastards.

Byt the way who was riving your car?
And what do U yourself weigh?

JS

Put Slicks on here and add a verter
You'll run 11.40 no problem...

Wow that isn't much better than me? I could probably throw some real race gas in the car, add a couple more degrees of timing, and dyno-pass your LS6 headed ***... .. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> lol.

We both know the track is all that matters. Hopefully I can hook Friday at Pomona. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> When are you running your car? You will be the one driving it right?

PS what vacuum does your car pull at idle?

Terry I always drove me car
I dont know who keeps telling u I didnt drive my car.

JPR setup
ME 330lbs Best pass 11.43
Joe P. 165lbs 11.36

Now u take that College degree and figure out according the weight disadvantage who actually drove the car better.

I didn't see you there? Gee where were you anyway? it sure wasn't running your car, and yes there were gusts so strong it wans knocking over all the fencing in the parking lot, all the faster slick cars were only allowed to run 1/8 because of the high winds so if you weren't there which you weren't you shouldn't comment because thats probably why you weren't.

WS6/Dennis everythings okay.
Atco is very funny when it comes to wind.
It swirls there all the time.

U ran well for sure.
Add the verter and you'll run the number for sure.
