wtf are these and why are they in my friend's oil?

Default wtf are these and why are they in my friend's oil?

we did an oil change and found these stuck to the drain plug and in the oil... what are they?

Looks almost like thread were cut for some bolt hole and stayed in the motor? Can you take a closeup of the "chunks" on the end?

They look like the inside of a glass fuse.

Definitely need a close up ..they appear to be helicoils...unwound helicoils

Was this the first oil change on this engine? The reason I ask is because they look like drill shavings to me. During the firt oil change for any engine it's not uncommon to find drill shavings from ports and passages throughout the engine attached to the magnetic drain plug.
