Default H/C project IS complete!

Well, Friday and Saturday, Andy (Xsta Z28) and I worked on putting my SS back together with all the new goodies. Installation was actually pretty easy. The entire project went smoothly except for the broken lower EGR tube bolt from the passenger side header. That sucked because we had to remove the whole damned thing! After drilling out the bolt Andy retapped the hole and it was like new again. SLP passenger side LT headers really suck to pull out and put back in. We had no left over parts which was good but only one thing is wrong... We're missing one crucial part!

I need my throttle body!

I sent it off to Nick at ARE for porting and adjustments and can't start the car until I get it back.

HEY NICK! HURRY UP! LOL

We considered taking Andy's out of his car as a temporary donor but thought it would be better to wait. Talk about anxious...

Here's what it looks like right now. The STB, FRCs and lid are awaiting the arrival of the TB.

Special thanks go out to Andy for his unwaivering assistance and mechanical guidance. We also really appreciate the time Jmx and Roughammer spent on making their installation guides. They were most useful! I'd recommend a H/C project to anyone who's itching to get some grease under their fingernails. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. EXPENSIVE, but not too hard.

Congrats on doing it yourself!!
Your engine looks fantastic with the painted intake. Something to definately consider for myself in the future, but right now my money is better spent elsewhere

The painted intake does look nice.

Always glad to lend a helping hand. And yes the install went very smoothing barring the little header incident.

I too want to say a HUGE thank you to JMx and Roughammer, for all the excellent info available to us on their sites. You guys made it almost too easy!

Now I just want to hear this bad boy come to life!

Wow..that looks great. I live in the somewhat rural portion of San Diego. My engine bay looks like i shotgunned oil over everything then sprinkled it with dust. I guess i should start to worry some more about making it look nicer not just faster

Looks great! I wish I had painted my intake.

Don't forget to bleed the coolant system of air...

It took exactly two gallons until it started coming out the the TB coolant pipe in front of the intake. We'll top it off slowly as the bubbles burp out.

Good luck Mark & Andy on firing that bad boy up I hope all goes well. Mark I see you put in a ARE oil pump which I'm going to do too but I did see if you said you put a new timing chain in too and if you did which one did you go to?

Hey, how are those gauges looking? Any comments on them from anyone?

Timing Chain: Nope. Nick at ARE said the stock chain is adequate for my setup. Used the stock rockers too.

I would think that stock timing chain would be good enough too, let me now how it goes tonight.

IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE!!

Fired right up the first try! Cam sounds real nice too.

Unfortunately, after a quick jaunt around the block, the POS SLP EGR modified intake sprung a leak at their brainfart EGR fitting and threw a code. Upon further inspection, we found a broken grommet. What we also found was that there was silver paint where it was broken - meaning that SLP themselves broke the grommet when they put the thing together. Now I have to wait again.

The throttle body just arrived so I'll have the final results (whether it'll start or not - LOL) either tonight or tomorrow.

Ooooooh.... the tension.
