Default What the heck did I do to my cars? Help me!

I swapped the LS1 intake back on my Z28 this weekend, and now I get "low knock sensor voltage" and other codes. And only 14* timing @ WOT! Did I
dislodge one of the knock sensors when I put the intake on? (I also put the stock airbox back on)

And (this is probably just coincidence) after I put the LS6 intake on the TA, I get
no oil pressure!!! How much are the 2001, oil pumps?

You didn't break/disconnect the oil press sending unit behind the manifold, did you? I'd check that out first for the oil press prob.

The psi was fine before I swapped intakes. (40psi driving around) I had just gotten back from driving it that morning before the swap. Now the gauge reads 0, nada, zip, zilch.......etc. I hope it is the sending unit. Does that mean the car isn't getting oil pressure or just that the computer can't tell?

The sending unit threads into the flat part of the block behind the intake on the drivers' side. You will probably have to feel back there to find it. It's round with the connector on top. It's not unheard of to break one or disconnect it while r&r the intake from what I've seen. There is a tool to take it out, but I know someone has probably changed it without the special tool. I would try to find if it's even plugged in first.

Also I'm thinking there is a weather tight connector for the knock sensors behind the intake.

(sigh) I'm getting intake swaps down to 1.5 hrs. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I hope you don't have to do another! That stuff back there is a certified bit$h to get to! Might help to get the AIR crap out of the way. There are 3 connectors I know of in that area: oil press, cam sensor and knock sensor harness.

Would you happen to know a PN and $$ for the oil sensor? I guess I could go to the dealer and look at their exploded view on screen.

I sure wouldn't. Check that connector first, though! Good luck, time to go get my breakfast. <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

I got the PN (picking it up today)

That's the first I've heard of having to take the valley cover off. hmmm. I hope I don't have to do that.

Do I need a 24 or 27mm deep socket?

I just replaced my oil pressure sending unit yesterday. The only way I could do it was taking off the intake and the cam valley cover. The part cost me 56. I don't know the part number

Thanks gwj,

It was the sensor slapped clean in two. The gauge is showing more pressure than it ever has.

You're welcome. Lucky guess, but it seemed logical. Hope you get the knock sensor problem solved.

You could have damaged one of the knock sensor wires while installing the intake. I dont think it would be that hard to do
