Whats the price of just the head gaskets, crank bolt, and the BIG head bolts?

That is about all you'll need anyways.

You DO NOT need new exhaust gaskets, valve cover gaskets, timing chain gaskets, water pump gaskets....etc, etc.

Raughhammer is right. You may be able to use some of your old gaskets, but, if you still want new ones, the seperate prices below look alot better than those $250 "all inclusive" kit prices you have looked at.

Head gaskets, (Victor/NAPA part) P/N 5975 & 5976, $12 ea, (need both), $24 total

Valve cover gaskets, P/N 12560696, $6 ea, (need 02), $12 total

Exhaust manifold gaskets, P/N 12558573, $8 ea (need 02), $16 total

Head bolts M-11 long, P/N 12560744, $3 ea, (need 16), $48 total

Head bolts M-11 short, P/N 12560745, $1 ea, (need 04), $4 total

Head bolts M-8, P/N 12558840, $1 ea, (need 10), $10 total

Timing cover crank seal, P/N 12561244, $10ea, $10 total

Front cover gasket, P/N 12558013, $7 ea, $7 total

Water pump gaskets, P/N 12559271, $3 ea, (need 02), $6 total ----- not sure if this p/n is for the set or not

A.I.R pipe gaskets, P/N 12553617, $1ea, (need 02), $2 total

Damper bolt, P/N 12557840, $3 ea, $3 total

TOTAL PRICE: $140 + shipping

http://www.gmpart.com/autoindex.html

These prices are approx, and rounded to the dollar. But, as you can see, buying these gaskets/bolts seperatly is alot cheaper than those "package" deals out there. The parts shown above are GM except the head gaskets. There has been other threads here about these head gaskets.

Don't confuse the company listed above with GM Parts Direct. GM Parts Direct sells at a very low price, then rapes you on shipping!

Guys, you can't buy LS1 GM headbolts or headgaskets seperate anymore. Its only in a package. The package includes ALL headbolts (big and small), 2 headgaskets, 2 ls1 exhaust manifold gaskets, 2 ls6 exhaust manifold gaskets, 8 intake manifold runner gaskets, 4 crossover pipe gaskets, and 2 valvecover gaskets.

I've not found a dealer that could still get the seperate bolts and gaskets anymore.

My Bad!....

I thought it was only the GM head gaskets that could not be bought separatly. Thats why I listed the price and p/n for the NAPA head gaskets above.

So, now the bolts too! Well, I wonder what ever happened to all the separate LS1 head bolts the dealers and parts houses had sitting there on the shelves? Oh Well

Now, if ARP would just sell there LS1 head bolts at a "fair" price like they do with SBC bolts, that would maybe be a better alternative. And then you dont have to worry about bolt angle and all that BS. Then buy the head gaskets from NAPA. I would think that the other gaskets could still be bought separately from GM.....

GM and the LS1 aftermarket parts companies (sponsors) are Ripping us on these so called "kits"!

I bought the passenger side head gasket at Ancira in San Antonio but when I came to pick up the driver side gasket they told me that they dont sell them individually anymore but in a kit. They hooked me up anyway and sold them individually for $28 each.

I would definitely get the coolant tube gaskets. Don't skimp on those!!

Just double check, triple check that you have everything you need.

Eric....

QUESTION: Do you think the coolant tube gaskets come with a new LS6 manifold if you order the manifold and the optional coolant tubes togather? .......I guess you need 2 coolant tube gaskets? do you have p/n?

I do know the LS6 manifold comes with intake gaskets along with the TB gasket.

In fact, thats just another reason I dont want the $$$ "kit" becouse I wont use the intake gasket in the kit if I buy an LS6 manifold.

Thanks,
Ron

Well, I think my plugs came with gaskets. But I am not sure about that.

I can say that the cylinder head install kit that Jon listed above contained 4 vapor vent tube (coolant tube) gaskets. You need 4. One for each corner.

I swapped out my intake manifold gaskets on my heads/cam install last week because they were covered with oil. I insalled the LS6 intake about a year ago. Bolts were still torqued to spec. Just something to think about.

Yes, the LS6 intake manifold came with gaskets installed, all 8 intake ports and 1 tb port.

I can get a part number for you Monday. I will swing by the dealership and look it up on their computer.

Default Doing Head/cam swap, buying bolts, gaskets, etc?

I hope to do the install in a few weeks. Is it better to buy all the gaskets/ bolts individually or buy a package like Thunder Racing sells? Price seems a little steep but I don't know the costs of each part either. The other benefit is that you know you have everything. ($230-$250)

Thanks,

Bill

GM will sell bolts separately. Just not the gaskets. I've checked with GMSPO to see if they will continue to stock bolts and they will. So you can get the NAPA gaskets and then the GM bolts.

Brad...

Thanks for checking. I guess I will buy the head gaskets from NAPA, and the rest of the gaskets and bolts from GM. I came up with about $155 for everything needed for a cam/head swap (not re-useing ANY of the old gaskets)

Heck of alot cheaper than all the various "kits" being sold.

I bought the head gaskets and head bolts separately about a month ago. Do not get ripped off.

Anyone know if the NAPA gaskets are still on back order? I tryed to get some head gaskets and bolts from my buddy at GM this weekend and he said that they can only offer the sets of gaskets unless a dealer has them sitting in one of their bins. I'm doing h/c soon (whenever my car gets delivered!)

I bought the TR kit. It was alot of $ but it was sure nice having everything I needed. I'm not sure what the markup was but the convenience factor was worth it to me. I tend not to reuse gaskets, whether or not they can be. Leaks just pi$$ me off.
