I need to know what the price would be around, because I'm getting an airforce bonus and I want to know where I need to stay, I'm getting 20,000 up front and 4,500 a year after that for six years. So I don't want to spend all of my money up front on a car but I want to know that I can spend around 6,000 right away. Then the following years I can put the rest of what I want. Thanx

6k is a good heads/cam/intake (i.e. MTI Stage 2), plus tuning and headers. ditch the Z06 stuff. get a Ram or McLeod iron set up...plus a rear.

422's are 12-15k easy.

Well it is costing me around 10-11K on a 382 alone. Not to mention the Vortech supercharger price. I am using all quality parts leaving nothing to spare. With a big performance engine you must be ready to shell out a few bucks in order to leave no weakness. Here is a list of what is going it to it.

Excessive is in Kansas City while the other is in Houston. Just thought I would point out that there is a difference here. The one in the thread you refer to is about Xcessive.

Judge for the last week you've been giving your opinon on alot of posts and I respect that but to say a 382 sucks is alittle harsh.

When the strokers first got built they were mainly new and as such didnt perform all to well.But lately I see a couple guys running them with good success.Sure the big bore is better but I still feel a well thought out 382 with quality components such as lunati gives u for the money and the ability of not leaking coolant has an advantage,especailly if u wanna go N20.I'd build a 383 stroker if i could do it alittle cheaper.

I just see your posts as been one sided and harsh without a gray area.

My ARE 422 cost about $12,300. You'll also need a good set of cylinder heads.

If you're going to go for a 422 you might as well go all the way and get LS6 heads and a port job.

Don't forget the 12 bolt and a new clutch.

That sounds good, about what I'm looking for. What do you guys think about the 382 stroker kit by excessive motorsports for 4,000. would it be worth the money?

whether it be excessive or any other shop. all-stroke 382's SUCK. stay with the H/C and work up to a 422.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...as you can see...If mine comes off as harsh, i apologize. the all-stroke motors are just a bad concept IMO. and i have a friend that had one. he did this, and he did that...still not impressive for a $2000 crank. now, throw an iron block into the mix bored to about 4.04 to even out the bore/stroke...and you've got a winning combo...as you well know with Stealth's 408. like i said we all have our opinions, im not going to hold my tongue.

Thanx for the help guys. The guys at excessive Motorsports told me that they dynoed a 382 with shorty headers, mild cam, and ported LS1 heads, no LS6 intake at 410rwhp and 430rwtq. I asked them what size shot of NOS that could take and they told me 200 shot would be safe. I will go with longtubes and the LS6 intake before I get it installed. He told me that I would dyno around 450rwhp probably with that combo, and then throw the switch for NOS when I need it. Let me know what you guys think about their advice.

My ARE 385 was great. I actually like it better than my 422ci motor - but maybe the new tuning we are going to do will change my mind. It was nicer to drive, made excellent power and I'd easily recommend it for a fast daily driver setup.

If they told you that, Excessive is lying once again. They don't have a dyno, and I'm good friends with the owner of the only dyno shop in town.

I will flame Excessive Motorsports! They lie and say that they have parts in stock. Take your money and tell you they will send it right out...wrong. Half the people in town have been screwed by them promising parts withing a few days and month later (if your lucky) you get the parts. Screw Excessive! I have never heard anything good or bad about thier motor work. I just know if you cant get a part to a customer when you say you will, you cant be running anything to well. Just my two cents.

I will say this for Excessive Motorsports. I got my Lunati crank, engine bearings, connecting rods, pistons and piston rings from them. The only thing that went wrong was that Lunati did not get their rods out to me in time so i switched to Manley and got them in a week. I also believe that was Lunati's problem and not Excessive's.

So you guys think I should deal with ARE or MTI motorsports then? Everyone is telling me MTI is the place to go. Also alot of people of getting work at ARE. Let me know your results with these companies.
