There are two spots that look darker in color.
The darker areas are from the original castings. When they do the CNC work it cuts the same pattern for each port. It just goes to show that the original castings are not equal. (hope that explains it).
Do they flow as good as ported z06 heads??
That would be a subjective answer. A two year old kid could hog out heads and get great flow #'s. These heads seems to flow the best where they should with the .561 lift of the cam. The ultimate answer will lie in the dyno and track #'s. A couple of reasons for going with the 5.3l heads; cost, LS6 cores are way too much money for a few hp gain (I could add a full N20 setup for the cost difference), 63cc combustion chamber should have me around 10.9 compression, and the exhaust is supposed to flow better than the 5.7l heads.
Shouldn't you go over those by hand to smooth out the marks left my the CNC machine? OR is that just an optical illusion
no need to go over them. The marks left by the CNC machine are very shallow, It looks worse in the pics than in real life <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
