Default anyone with R1 cam please read

ok I have a question anybody know of anyone running the R1 cam 232/237 .560/.560 114 in an ls1 all bore or stroker motor and passed emmissions? or if I should stick with the 230/237 .544/.544 114. would the r1 cam give a more mid range powerband than the 230/237 cam and still be good at top end? any help would do. wondering which one would work better for my 382 all bore set-up for a 200-250 wet shot.

I think we need more info on the cam profiles to give you good feedback.

The cams sound close but the ramp rates might be significantly different.

Do you have the cam card info on them?

I think a 23_/23_/114 cam might pass IL emissions. Might require some finessing with LS1 Edit. You are two years away on testing. I just got a notice for my 98 car.

I Just found out My 382 came in <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" /> , I will get the cam-card as soon as I get over to the shop and I will e-mail killer for the cam specs to find out more.

Hey mann I know you guys got the OBD2 test emmisions there and they are rather strict.
So why couldn't you try to pass with whatever cam you chooose and if it dont pass see by how much and then work it out how to make it pass from there.
A cam swap is only a few hrs even for the inexperienced, so you can always go that route.

If im not mistaken when I left Chicago they still issued EXEMPT stickers if you try 3 times and are close.
They dont tell you this but its available or atleast it was a few years ago.
You might want to check into that.
So there are a ton of options, you should worry about it when the time comes. Thats what i would do.

I am gonna stick with the 230/237 cam. I talked to Nick of ARE and he said he would help me out if the cam doesn't turn how I expect it too. Oh, and Motor Is finally here!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

well i am running on r1 cam now 232/237 561/561 112 lobe. well it has so much top end that everytime i power **** it burns rubber all the way 4th gear. the cam kick in around 3000 rpm i push all the way to 6800rpm. imo i dont think this cam will pass somg at all.

i dont have track number yet, due to head gasket failuar but still smoked the viper gts. i ve just got the are headbolts and some new custom head gasket to help out. lowered com from 12.2 to 11.9.

I will try this 23/237 cam from ARE and see how it does. I will then see my options and upgrade after a while. Thanks for the reply.
