I just dont want my car shaking the doors off and stalling. If this cam will do what is says and not idle my brains out then I'm calling for an order tomorrow!

Now it's no Comp 216/220 but it wont be any worse then a GM Hotcam...

Now Chris98SS dynoed even more then me with stock heads. 402rwhp with Thunder 224 cam, stock rear/gears/FW/DS through the borla and bullet muffler. He added a 12bolt with 4.10s and dynoed 383rwhp no other changes. But I should mention both of our cars ran FASTER with less power. Does that make it a little easier, I think so.

Moral of the story, Jason's car is putting out the numbers through a stout drivetrain! If someone is just looking for a dyno number then throw in a stock rear/gears and watch the numbers shoot up 15-20rwhp. But thats not what it's about. Also, some cars are stronger then others from the factory. Paul, your old motor is doing Jason quite well.

So, Justin, do you have 4.30's or 4.10's. Jason says you have both in his earlier post. You have 4.10's right?

Also Justin, in regards to this statement: "If someone is just looking for a dyno number then throw in a stock rear/gears and watch the numbers shoot up 15-20rwhp. But thats not what it's about. "

Maybe I'm wrong, but isnt that what this thread is about?

In Jason's car, he is still using the stock 850rpm idle. At that speed, the car sounds flat out mean. If you wanted to go the stealth route, bump the idle up to 900-950 and you'd probably not notice you had a non-stock cam... (of course it also depends on which catback you have. Have you checked out Jason's sound clips?

Mike, I've got 4.10s. And I agree, the #s are that much more impressive b/c of the drivetrain it's going through. And the "thats not what it's about" meant thats it's not about dyno numbers but track times.

I guess I'll take that as a compliment. However, I think if someone duplicated my setup exactly, the times would be fairly close. You just cannot worry about breaking stuff at the track and drive the crap out of it, especially with a 6-speed.

If I ever do get another LS1, I'm buying a 12-bolt and some slicks and running the car bone stock to see what it will run. I know I could get it to run low 12s in the right air.

Jason, I really need your input on this cam. How does your car shake with the factory 850 idle? I can up my idle w/LS1Edit to around 950 or so. Are there any cons to this cam?

You defintely know you have a cam in the car while sitting at a stop light. The shifter shakes some, etc. However, all of my other cams did this. The cam does lope quite a bit harder, but the inside vibrations, etc have not really changed much. If you have access to LS1-edit, then none of this should be much of a concern as you can bump your idle to where you feel comfortable.

The only downsides so far is gas mileage, but that is a personal problem. LOL The car is at WOT quite a bit. The only other "downside" would be piston to valve clearance if you do decide to add a set of ported heads. However, this is pure speculation as we have not checked it as of yet. We will be checking this out in a few days and will post the results.

It's a little rougher then the TR224 cam but not much. Just do it. I'll have some ready to go by mid next week.
