help with cam install....
Well the person that was going to put my cam is just bailed on me. So it looks like I am going to be doing this myself. Does anyone have a detailed write up on a cam install and is there also anything I should know or look out for? This is my first cam install so I am kinda hesitant. TIA

They are a pain...allow three days probably for the cam and springs. The springs can be a bitch..
you need the right tool..I used a lyle tool with star turn thing on end and its removable so you can put socket or open end wrench on it for those back springs.I used the longer arm so I could compress my 918 springs a bit more.I didn't use a compressor..just the dot method and it worked fine.Just take your time and you should be ok.Its much better with two people though.

I'm not sure what springs MY99TAWS6 is talking about, but Allan at FMS had my comp 26918's on in less than 2 and a half hours. No way should it take three days. The cam swap should take maybe 4-5 hours. Some of the more experienced shops can swap cams in 3 or 4 hours.

The valvesprings are really not hard, assuming you have the correct valvespring compressor. Patience is the key with them. A cam/spring swap should take no longer than one full day, assuming you do not run into any major problems. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
