Default ??? Milling heads, head gasket thickness, pushrod length ???

I have a Hammercam on the way.

I need to know what thickness to mill the head, what head gasket to run for around 11.0 compression ratio, and what length pushrod to order.

I need new valves so I was going to install Ferrea 2.02/1.55 valves. Opinions??

Thanks,
Eric

I can dig it!

7.35 pushrods
30thous mill
.40 head gasket

that's the answer I needed

by readily acessible I meant like the NAPA head gasket for $13 bucks. I assume you can get them in that size for that price.

The Cam Base circle depends on it's lift...

Most likely the milling and smaller base lobe cancel each other out. But bringing the stock preload down will help control the valvetrain.

All depends on your cam lift really.
Most likely 7.350"s are the right way to go. If you go above .560 lift you might not need the shorter ones.

So how do I figure it all out so I can take it to the machine shop and have everything ready to go?

7.350's are the most common used & is most likely right.

What is the lift on his Cam?

The other info I'd need to chew.. What is stock lift again & stock cam base circle?

I 'think' stock base circle was 1.550", right?
But I forget the lift..

FWIW, my .566 CompCam had a 1.495"-1.500" base circle...

So, his cam would reduce his stock preload by .5 x.055, or -.027 Preload from stock. (Only half of the circle lifts the lifter at any time). So, he's +.030 preload with the shorter heads and -.027 preload with the cam base circle change. Pretty much evens things out.

The Q might be, do you really want to run stock preload at higher rpm's? and What is stock lifter preload from the factory?

CompCams prefers to see .025-.050 preload with Stock lifters to keep the higher rpm valvetrain under control.

Just my .02, feel free to correct.

I guess MTI should know - I'm not the first one to do this.
