Thumbs up

I'm obviously biased since I do some work with Greg Good but the heads he has done with me on several engines are just plain crazy and run that way as well. James and Sheila day are running 9.9Xs at 133+ MPH at 34XX pounds on real pump gas and with a real hydraulic roller with steel valves with some Greg Good ported 5.3 heads.

Then there's also John Lander's Z06 vette we did with Greg Good ported LS6 heads that is also going low tens at 135 mph in the 1/4 down here also with real pump gas and a real hydraulic roller with steel valves. He would be in the 9s as well but he is already so fast they kicked him out of HRP till he gets more safety equipment.

Casey and Brandon at the School are also awsome and have done lots of work with Greg earlier at SAM and on their own now as well and ended up doing some LS6 heads that went 154 mph also in a pretty heavy orange camaro! Dyno'd at HPE at mid 7XX to the wheels on motor! Casey and Brandon both have had job offers all the way to NASCAR and NHRA PS to port heads but are still at SAM for the time being which is great for the students and a testament to what you can learn at the School if you really want to!

Greg also freshened up our old Factory Street NMCA ride's heads which was a solid flat tappet 477 inch BBC and we picked up a solid 50 hp across the top of our powerband. We were number one qualifiers and won the NMCA finals going away in our class after that as well. We got protested because we had improved so damn much that we got torn down! Of course we were legal and we got to keep the money. They didn't yet have a rule against Greg Good porting your heads yet so they couldn't kick us out since that was all that changed!

FWIW also I can say that I have seen great heads from all the other guys mentioned as well and I have had great luck with ETP and AFR and TFS in the CNC heads category as well. The best head is always part of a combination and on the next combination that same head might not be best. That's when you have to sit down and think a little bit.

Just reading all of the names affiliated with SAM in this thread astounds me. My parents think I'm silly to want to go to school to do this kind of work. I would love to one day be mentioned in a "Top Five" list.

Sorry to hijack, but I was reading through because I have some brand new castings that will need to be touched up a bit

Toney Mamo hand finished my AFR 225's and my intake they are awsome.

I had some GTP stage 3's and they were beat by 2-3 other stock castings.

We had a set of AS stock casted heads that flowed awsome for a stock head. We also had a real good set of PRC's .I don't know who ports for those 2 but id put them on a budget car in a minute!

Craig Gallant at GTP. I've got a set of his stage 3 solid rollers that flow 307@500, 336@600 and 353@700. Super nice guy too. Not cheap though.

Trevor Johnson. My 358 inch LSX roller makes 540 at the wheels through a th400 with a 430 geared 9inch with 40 spline axles. It makes big power per ci on the motor and even bigger power on the sauce. I'm very proud to have had him work on my heads , and will use him again if I ever get the chance to bulid another all out LSX engine.

We have a gy in NWsection that just hand ported his own and came up with great results. To specificaly request the top 5 is a bogus question. There are many many fine head porters out there.

I laughed at a comment in the NASCAR 750 hp thread. The guy said $1,000 for some cam. Talk about expensive. I guess it is since ur only buying ONE cam. Good thing he's not into modular 4v's. Each set runs about $1,400 bucks, but you get four cams.

Mike T @ CARTEK

Cant complain with 508hp from ported 243's through 4.56 gears running 10.41 in a street car. That is with CARTEK spec'ed cam and tuning.

lloyd elliot elliot does some killer lt1 heads and ls1 heads. I made 462rwhp with his le2 heads on a 383 with cc306 cam. Im planning on letting him port my 241 castings to the limit!

Does S.A.M. do heads for the public? I couldn't find anything about it on their site. Craig Gallant goes stupid way back. Found his website just typing in GTP Performance. I remember when he was one of the first with a 500 hp LT1.
